Only classes that I would get bs in for semester are AICE GP and Econ

Dream: Wharton School of Business or Cambridge(Not sure yet)
* Since AICE is sanctioned by Cambridge University are my chances improved

Your class list is very hard to interpret. If you keep your GPA up, enter some state/national competitions, score well on SAT/ACT + Subject Tests, you will have a better than average shot for Ivies. I would also consider expanding your extracurriculars. Be sure to keep a strong course rigor. Because you are African American that will also help in Ivy League schools.

How do you suggest expansion?
Also, planning on taking math 2 subject test, and bio at year end.
Waiting for Psat Scores, going to take SAT 1 in Jan, though since I hear SAT is racially biased should I take ACT instead.

Well the only clubs you listed are math and chem. There are plenty more clubs out there like Model UN, Debate, DECA, school-based clubs also like foreign language clubs, writing clubs, reading clubs etc., <- These are relatively easy to get a leadership position in as long as you involve yourself. Now, you obviously don’t have to participate in every single club, but show up to a couple more and maybe get another leadership position in one.

National Merit Semifinalist/Finalist looks really good, so good luck on getting the score you want. PSAT won’t technically count as it’s Sophomore year, so make sure you improve a below-par score or retain a high score.

Not sure what you mean by racially biased; you put down the correct answers, you will get the points. Anyone can score well on standardized tests with correct preparation- look through the other forums for test preparation tips and resources.

forgot to mention buisness proffesionals of America and debate as clubs; relatives in England also

anyone else

bumpity bump please respond greatly apppreciated

take an SAT prep course, get a score of 2100 and you have a good shot with AA status
or get 2250 and feel real good. That being said , if they like you as a soccer player/athlete you can drop the SAT scores at least 200.You are definitely on the right track for anywhere.

The information you want is already all over this site, you don’t really need to make a new thread for it. If you want to know what the “ideal student” is for top colleges, then look at other chance threads and see the chances/advice people are giving them or, if you have a specific college in mind, you can go to the forum for that specific college and look at the stats of people that were accepted/denied. I can’t give you a chance if you’re a Sophomore.

Thanks @mojojohnson. @BBanks, I’m asking for specific advice in terms of ecs that may be helpful, jobs suggeted as work experience and what types of courses I should take considering I want a major in a Business-related subject.
*Will being born in NYC, NY although not having been schooled there in anyway affect my future apps in terms of regional comparisons colleges assess when looking at students.

anybody else the more the merrier

bumpity bump

affirmative action and good SAT/GPA will help you at these schools…relatives in England won’t unless they’re tied in with admissions. Expand on the ECs, but you have plenty of time. Next year you will probably be able to get a more accurate measure of where you stand

I think you have a better chance at the Ivies and Duke. Cambridge is pretty tough on letting in international students (I could be wrong, this is just what I’ve heard).

Yeah you are on track! Good luck!

I think you should increase your ECs. Keep your GPA steady and remain in the top 5. You’ll be good then.
