Am I overdoing it, should I drop a class?

Right now my winter sched looks like this:

CHEM 002A
MAT 21B
POL 003
SAS 005

That’s 16 units. Am I overdoing it with that load, and should I just drop SAS 005 to get 13 units?

Im taking 16 units next quarter and I am wondering the same thing. On the other hand, I don’t have a class with a long lab stares at the chemistry class. I think it is a question of timing. For instance, you are going to have long tedious labs (well I thought they were tedious) that may take up time you could spend studying math. When one takes chemistry it basically takes over your life. I couldn’t stare at pink lemonade without thinking of the titration lab so . . .it is up to you. When I took chemistry I took it with a math and biology class and got straight A’s. It was hard but I managed it. There were times when I didn’t sleep, I lost my self-esteem, I gave up my social life, and I gained 5 lbs from stress and lack of sleep. But hey, I never so “no” to a challenge myself, so I certainly am not going to hate on anyone else’s registration decisions :)

Lab: be thankful. We have it lucky by simply answering/typing in data and doing some manipulation all on the computer, whereas some community colleges have to type everything out and write 3 paragraph conclusions.

the thing I’m worried about is that chem has a lab and that pol 003 is a hard class so maybe I should drop sas 005?

If it were me I would wait until the start of next quarter to gauge the difficulty of the classes and make a decision of whether to drop a class or not.

You can also review the material/texts ahead of time over break to make it easier on yourself during the quarter if you really want to take all four but feel concerned about being able to do well in all of them.

Personally, your schedule looks very reasonable to me (2 math/sci and 2 ss lower div), but opinions are subjective, and the difficulty of teachers certainly is a major factor in determining whether or not you have a easy time with a large unit load.

Things to consider:
i)If you end up with 13 units and the classes aren’t all that difficult then you may find too much extra free time on your hands and regret not having fully utilized your quarter by taking the fourth class.
ii)You take all four classes and while you’re able to successfully navigate all four, sacrifice your social life and extracurriculars in doing so.

You’re not overdoing it. “Full-time students are expected to average 15 units per term.”

Well my winter sched is 17 units with:
Chem 2A
Math 17B
RST 60
UWP 1

I’m guessing its going to be rough?

These are all totally doable, you’ll just have to manage your time well and not party every night.

Man up, you’re PAYING to be here. “Full-time students are expected to average 15 units per term.”

Shoyon, I’m taking RST 60 too. Got the book last week online, like less than 150 pages, SO awesome.

My current schedule is:

CHE 2B
MAT 17B
BIS 2A
ENL 3

17 units.

no.

if you were taking three lab classes, though… then yes. but you should be able to handle your schedule without too much trouble. :3
