because january turned out much busier than i hoped, i'm thinking of switching my first sat date to may (can't make that march date). it's the weekend before ap testing, but the only ap i'll actually need to study for is euro (admittedly, that will be quite a large amount of studying). i also figure i'll have more math education (by far my worst section) and more time for steady prepping by may 2nd.

for some reason i have a feeling like i've heard not to take the sat for the first time in may. is there something i'm forgetting or should i take it then?

thanks! and sorry for my apparent affinity for parenthesis..

Are you a junior?

If you are, maybe you should take it in March. But, if you are a soph/fresh, take it in May.

i can't take it in march. but yes i am a junior.

Take it in May. It's just one AP you're studying for.

Take it in June, like me :D

Why is it bad for a Junior to take it for the first time in May?

Sorry if it seems ignorant to ask that question, but I'm fairly new to the system because I'm an international student and was planning to take it for the first time in May/June (and then a second time in October)...

There is nothing wrong with taking the SAT in May...if you aren't happy with your score, you can retake it June, October, November, December (Regular Decision). Sorry if I gave the impression that it is bad to take it for your first time in May -- it's just that a lot of people will also be taking AP courses as Juniors and AP tests are also in May.

the procrastinator in me is screaming "MAY!", but i'm still not sure.

thanks for the replies!

May is probably better than January. Just study for it know and you won't have to spend that much time on it during May. Start studying for AP tests earlier if you are afraid of wasting 1 Saturday or something.
