BUUUUT, I’m probably over-thinking it.
GOD THIS WAITING IS DRIVING ME INSANE

@canindian UCSC only accepted [63.2% of applicants for fall 2009](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles/camp_profiles_ucsc.html). Maybe it’s not the most competitive, but it’s definitely not a sure thing. And it’s definitely not “close to 80%.”

on college board is says 72%

I was accepted to biomedical engineering at Irvine, so I’m hoping that equates to an acceptance at SC

I wouldn’t go by what collegeboard says, especially if you have stats directly from a UC website (i.e. the 63%).

To clear things up, applying under a major DOES NOT impact your chances. Every single freshman who applies to a UC actually applies under a “proposed major.” This means nothing in terms of a major as you have to actually declare your major. You can apply as Biology and once you are admitted, your major will be “Undeclared-Biology.” You technically are not affiliated with the Bio department UNTIL you formally declare (normally soph year).
