Hey, So I sent in my application last week, and I am starting to worry about my chances again...cappex has ucr listed as a target school which I am a little worried about.

My Stats:

Iranian Male
Weighted GPA 10-11 Grade: 3.67
Rank: Top 30%
SAT I: 1820
SAT IIs: Bio-610, US History-540, Math II-530

I applied for bioengineering as my primary major and environmental engineering as my back up.

EC's + Awards + Leadership:

secretary treasurer for the stock Market Analysis Club - 3 years
Volleyball - 3 years
Model UN Captain
Youth Action Council Volunteer
Summer Bio Technology Camp

NCS Scholar Athlete Award
Volleyball Coach's Award
Academic Achievement Award

I hold the title of "Manager" as the store I work at
1 year of leadeship at my high school
Most Improved Student (Freshman year)

I have taken three college courses at my local community college

My summer project includes starting up a Charity with Micro-financing by incorporating the school's Stock Market cub.

I know for a fact that my essays were solid, I worked over a month on them, and had them read by almost everyone I could.

I applied to riverside, davis, irvine, sc, sb, la, CSU Poly, and CSU Long Beach....
Should I be worried about not getting into any of these schools come march/may? Thank you for your honest opinion!

You are pretty close for most UC’s and CSU’s except UCLA.
Your GPA and SAT I and SAT II scores are decent, but not quite UCLA material.
You also have decent EC’s and stuff.

LA: Reach

Davis: High Match
Irvine: High Match
SB: High Match
Cal Poly: High Match

Riverside: Match
SC: Match
Long Beach: Match

If your essay is excellent like you say, though, it will overpower everything else and you should have great chances to get everywhere you applied!
A great essay can do wonders.

Is it true that if I don’t get into any of the UCs I applied to, my application will automatically be forwarded to Merced or something like that? I have heard people are admitted to a shared experience program?

The UC System as a whole will be harder to get in because of the state budget crisis and also the fee increases.

That said, I still think you’re 90% in. If the rules are still the same as last fall then as long as you meet the admission requirements, i.e.: A-G requirements/SAT I and II/3.0 GPA or greater.

Plus I got in with a weighted 3.4,1620 on the SAT and 480/520 on the two subject tests. And a D and F on my transcript.
