I had ambitions to go to really good schools like Stanford or UCLA, but my practice SAT scores just dont seem to be that great.

My mom is uber ****ed off and dissapointed in me for scoring 2130 (collegeboard), 2170(collegeboard), and 2050 (Kaplan) on my recent practice tests.

Could these kind of scores hinder my chances into going into top tier schools? like stanford and ivies

I've been getting straight A's freshman and sophomore year (with 5 on world H AP exam). As junior right now, I still expect to get all A's (except for maybe AP US in which only 1 guy in our class has an 90% A-).

I do EC's like church leadership/volunteering, hospital volunteering, tennis, water polo, orchestra, keyclub (as board member) and have good talent in art (computer graphics, animation, painting, sketching) and piano.

even without the sat scores, am i even on track to going into a great private university or something?

Am i just way out of my mind and just stick to going to a good public school?

With straight A's you have a good chance at many schools. You are only a first semester junior, don't put so much pressure on yourself. Keep working hard, but manage a little fun too. Work with your schools GC on coming up with a list of schools that you are interested in. Make sure that some are the Ivy's and Stanford if that is your dream, but there are many other top schools for you to investigate. Make an effort to visit as many schools as you can so you can get a feel for the environment you would like best to live in for four years. Good Luck!

you still have a lot of time to prep for the sat's. and your scores are nothing to be ashamed off. work hard, and make sure to keep your grades up and you'll be fine

I took them once, got 2340, never did any prep or anything. I took a practice test at school once (required) and got a 2200. My point is that, without any prep, my real score was 140 points higher than my practice one. When it's time for the real thing, you're more focused and alert. Also, with some preparation between now and the test, you could definitely improve your score.

With that said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with applying to UCLA or Stanford with near-2200 scores. You can always take the SAT again, and even with a "not great" (not true, by the way) score of 2170, your GPA and EC's will make up for it.
