Hello everyone, I will be a Freshman at UMich in the Fall. I was wondering if doing Spanish 101 - 4 credits (Already took 3 years of Spanish in highschool), General Chemistry with lab - 5 credits, English 125 - 4 credits, Biology 173 -2 credits, and UROP biomedical research for 2 credits would be too much first semester. Would love some advice. Thanks!

17 is manageable when 4 of those credits are Spanish 101 and you already know everything.

that schedule seems fine. i agree with kyle

I think it would depend on how much time the research takes.

Its you first semester of college so its generally a better idea to take less of a load and see how it goes.

iirc, the number of hours required for UROP is determined by the # of credit hours it’s elected for. i think the conversion factor is something like 3 hours/week for every credit. i don’t remember talking to anyone that found UROP time consuming.

You’ll be fine. None of those classes are particularly time consuming and UROP isn’t tough at all.

Ok, thanks a lot for the input, guys!
