Am I the only one who hasn't

Am I the only one who hasn’t started his essays yet?

I was going to start yesterday, but to give you the short version, I fainted and I have a stiff neck. I can’t turn my head or anything, and it just hurts.

Perfect timing, eh?

This sucks lol.

Has anyone last year started their essay maybe three-four days before the deadline and still make it to a school? (I’m primarily concerned with UCLA/UCB.)

Anyway, uh…

Have fun, I already sent mine.

i just started

Have barely started mine. As I see it, it doesn't matter how much time you give yourself to do the essays as long as they turn out good. I think you still have just as good a chance as you did before you fainted (hope you're feeling better =D).

If you look at the overall picture, you will regret procrastinating on your personal statement when it might have made the difference for you between being accepted and being rejected at a particular UC. Your last 2 years of hard work wasted. Esp. for UCB and UCLA, personal statements play a larger role than the other UCs because they need something else (personal statement) other than grades and list of ECs to differentiate between students. From the Cal orientation, a faculty said they had to reject 4000 students with 4.0s.

Especially for out-of-state students, the competition is already high, the personal statement will make the difference. Your laziness is almost saying, "Hey, I'm too lazy to write the personal statement because I know I'm going to get it done anyways, I don't need time to edit my personal statement so I'll just read it over once before I send it in, and I don't care that I have to compete with thousands of other students to be accepted."

Sure, there are some people who can write something good last minute so this doesn't apply to them. But for the borderline students it does.

Something to think about.

Nice ^ Well written.

I'm a real perfectionist-type and stayed up til 5 am two nights in a row writing and re-writing my essays. I'm finally to the point where I can say they're decent. I think i'm done. i'm kinda sick of them anyway lol. so... compared to most people i started way late.

eassyyy unlimitedx, eassy boy..

Don't worry about the essays. Just write good essays that show your personality and press submit. Just make sure you use correct spelling/grammar/diction and your set.

eddie: dont worry my friend hasnt even started any of his essays and they are due to 31 hours. Did i mention he still has to do his cal state apps. as well as the uc apps by tommorow? and stanford apps due in a week? he is screwed.

unlimitid: u NEED to calm down.

I am calm, I'm simply telling the prospective students to not slack off.

Writing the essay in the last 4 days of the UC deadline is not a good idea....... how can you have your teachers proof read your essay and correct it ?
