Am I the only one who likes Science but absolutely HATES labs?

I genuinely enjoy learning about science itself but I hate labs. I always mess them up and I am horrible with my hands. Like I can learn/understand concepts/material and take tests and do well but if whenever I am asked to do a lab I’m horrible. Is anybody else like this?

I didn’t enjoy undergraduate labs, but I worked as a laboratory scientist. The difference being that you are usually doing your own work finding out new things as opposed to something that’s been done 15 million times previous.

I’m exactly like you

Labs aren’t always fun, but I think that it is important that they are required in a lot of science classes because its a hands on way to grasp the material. I also learn best from notes/videos, but I think hands on interaction and putting a concept into your own words through a lab report is important too.

@southernbelle16 Maybe it is a helpful way for some people to learn but I almost never understand the content better from doing a lab.

I completely feel you. Even though the teacher goes over the lab before the students have the opportunity to try it out, I still don’t understand what to do. I fumble with the materials and am unsure of how to get from Point A to Point B.

Sometimes I find labs fun, but I hate the questions that I have to answer and like RHSclassof16 I almost never understand the content better after the lab.

I don’t mind labs unless they are graded (in high school, nearly all labs are graded though). Graded labs can be annoying.

so true @IHateBs

One observation I have made is that ADHD kids seem to have more trouble with labs. Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean that if you don’t like labs that you are ADHD.
