I know acceptance or rejection is not guaranteed--I just want to know if I even show some kind of academic potential that is necessary at Penn. So, basically I was wondering if I look competant enough for the academics at Penn, because my ECs are decent enough.

GPA: 3.8
Freshman: 3.5 ( I got a ton of A-'s and one B)
Sophomore: 4.0
Junior: 4.0
Senior: 3.78-4.0 (it depends on those rotten A-'s and maybe a B?)

Test Scores:
680 CR, 780 M, 760 W
33 ACT (36 E, 34 R, 32 M, 29 S)

Rank--not submitted but they're bound to realize I'm outside of the top 10% of my 50-person class.
Thank you!

I have a feeling that the process is very holistic, at least from what I have been exposed to regarding college admissions. So be positive and try your best. It’s a combination of factors. Your school post high school counselor is a great resource if you have one available, but even they cannot guarantee anything.

Definitely not…those are very respectable scores and GPA, especially if you took rigorous courses. Plus, except for a negligible dip sr. year, your grades have gotten progressively better. I would work on your essays to make sure they’re as good as you can get them and that they really let your voice and your passion come through. Remember Penn is building a community not looking for everyone to be exactly the same…

Your GPA is better than mine…I agree with the above posters. You have potential; besides, less qualified people get in and more qualified people get rejected, so you never know anyway. Just try to make yourself sound really interesting and you have a shot!

If your school doesn’t report it, then that’s fine. Many accepted students fall in the category “School does not rank.”

I look at some, and I say no no, surely not! You can’t be as dumb as these idiots.
And then I look at others and wonder if I’m too dumb for Penn myself.

Hahaha neviar
I know…i just feel so dumb sometimes!!! I EA’d Chicago and I got in but whenever I meet someone who’s gone to Chicago I just do one of those “uhhh wow. you’re way too smart for me.”
It’s quite a conundrum

and by “will they care about it”–I meant are they going to call my counselor and ask for it?

If they have records of your school reporting rank and they don’t see it on your transcript, then I’d bet they’d call, yes. Rank is a pretty important deciding factor, but only if your school computes rank and reports it.
