So I got that whole Presidential Classrooms thing in the mail last fall and my mom thought it looked cool that I would be going to DC and all and decided to go ahead and pay for me to go. This was the only summer thing I could go to since I really can only miss a week of swimming this summer (if you miss more than 1 you come back sucking really bad), so I thought it would be cool. Until now. I searched for others who went there on this forum and the general response I got was that it is a scam and a huge waste of money. I'm not too concerned about the money part of it, but is this a waste of time and would I be better off just swimming all summer and not attending any of these little summer things at all? I'm a junior and I haven't been to anything like this.

I got so much mail from these conference thingies I could start my own library. Um...I guess it would be a nice addition to your overgrown/overbred resume, but whatever.

I have never heard of Presidential Classrooms... but i did go to a Lead America Conference the summer before Junior year and it was awesome. Mine was on forensic science so we a got a simulation crime and we had to solve it. I had so much fun there that it was worth it just on the fact taht I liked it. But also in numerous college and scholarship interviews it was something cool to talk about. Not a lot of people have gone to it in my school so everyone was interested to hear about it.

The best time it helped me was in one of my interviews we started talking about it and the people seemed really interested. Then one guy tells me that he used to do that kind of stuff for the FBI. I found out last week that I got the scholarship, so I'm not sure but the conference probably helped a little bit! :)
