Amazing Race 2023

Week 2 and you’re already using ACTUAL names and not “brothers” or “long time friends”, lol.

I also thought it was beautiful - that tree at the pit stop, wow!

I was waiting for someone to crash and dump their 4 container grocery cart. I felt like you could feel the anxiety in the air when the last few teams were doing that market challenge.

I wonder if Phil gets tired of coming up with anxiety producing comments to make a team think they are last.

They must be reading CC. Nice to see the teams booking their own tickets, although the disparity in flight times really didn’t impact the race.

I loved this episode. The crepe challenge seemed so much easier than the other.

Fun episode - I would have done ok on the rice paper challenge, but would not have had the patience for the vinyl wrap! And I love that they’re continuing to race!

Great episode! The detour really shuffled the order of the teams.

I definitely would have chosen rice paper.

Jocelyn and Victor going from perfect to 3 missteps: missed the remaining 5:45 boat pass (critical with the pile up around the boats); running past the roadblock; and slow on the rice paper. They clearly were not doing something right (amount of batter or cook time it looked like).

It’s a real race now.

They had to have a way for the later teams to have a chance with the 6 hour difference in flights. Good episode and nice to see a different team at the top.

I love the way everything got shaken up.
Felt sorry that the Express Pass seems to have been wasted – doesn’t make sense to use it in the middle of a task rather than to skip a task completely. It would have been so helpful in the vinyl task.
So no non-elimination but there is a “you’re in last place but you’re still racing.” Isn’t that really the same thing.
Victor and Jocelyn seem to be starting to crack under the pressure.
I really like Rob and Corey.
“Out of towners!!” I think they’ll be out soon, but she cracks me up.

Yes except all the teams are still spread out without a chance to catch up at the rest stop. The last place team might only be 10 minutes behind the second to last team. It looks like hard challenges coming up.

I just watched last week’s last night so commenting before I can’t click on this week’s episode!

I also thought it was a waste of an express pass - they seemed stunned in not a good way that they were 6th, expecting higher.

The rice paper task did not seem easy. But that vinyl task would have been my personal hell.

If they are not flying somewhere else there are going to be some pretty tuckered out teams as some of them got little to no sleep that day - and they have to keep racing.

I think Victor and Jocelyn can pull it together but they sure got a wide awakening. And they need to realize that you don’t just keep getting 1st! Just don’t get last!

When they start a new leg, they stay staggered the same amount of time as they entered the pit stop.

Just watched last night’s episode.

I feel like I could have done either the market or mattress tasks, but the matchmaker task would’ve been my downfall. I could see getting frustrated and having negative self-talk, a la Victor, though he seemed particularly harsh. I wasn’t sad to see them go. He feels too high-strung.

I am shocked they lost as they seemed to have so many advantages on those segments of the race.

Robbin and Chelsea are being edited to be the villains, it seems. I do feel like karma catches up with people. I like when teams are a little more cooperative early in the race. Certainly in the last couple of legs it’s really got to be every person for herself, but early on I think a little back-scratching can pay off.

Man, it helps to be young and strong. Liam and Yeremi seemed to make up a lot of time on the mattress task being able to do two at a time. And smart to leave their backpacks in the room. That’s always one thing I wonder about … when you are/aren’t allowed to dump the backpack. Like everyone seems to carry it all the way to Phil. Is that required? I’d dump it whenever I could.

I like all the teams left, some more than others. I could see not loving R&C if they really are too cutthroat.

I thought the last challenge was weak. Seemed like a good dose of luck involved based on where a team’s matching tile was. Couldn’t tell if each team’s tiles were different or there were 2 or 3 basic ones. In the past, matching type puzzles were the same for everyone and involved much more skill than luck.

Game changer - bummed by the final order and elimination.

I’m pretty methodical and in theory would do well in the tile task, but it’s really based on the luck of where one started looking in relation to where one’s tile was located. Victor and Jocelyn had two tasks related to their jobs and it still didn’t help them in the end. I never would have thought I’d be as entertained as I was watching people handle slimy sea creatures. In the mattress challenge it seemed like most of them carried their backpacks along with the mattresses the whole time. Then when the brothers dropped theirs I wondered if it was allowed. Also didn’t the facial hair team put back one mattress because they knew they couldn’t get two up the stairs, but the brothers just left one at the bottom. I thought they were going to be told that wasn’t allowed and get a penalty. My favorite person this week was the clue handler at the seafood challenge - she was having FUN!

Surprised to see them go. That was a tough needle in a haystack challenge.

…and at the end of a double leg with teams being sleep-deprived.

Not sure how sleep deprived they were, as the were told to ‘keep racing’, and the first team opened up its clue around 9-ish AM and the last team opened up its clue around 11-ish AM, I believe. It was just a very long day.

Dancing with pots on my head? I would have been there for hours.

Morgan and Lena having the discipline to switch tasks after a certain amount of time was impressive. The marionette building was much quicker than the painting due to the number of teams that were passed. Does anyone understand how the U-Turn voting works? It sounds like everyone has a vote.
