amazing recs

if you have received an amazing reccomendation in your lifetime, what made it amazing? what were some of the things the reccomender said? i remember one in which my teacher said "______ ________ receives my highest reccomendation.", and i thought that was great, but i've heard of some just absolutely amazing recs... any stories?

This isn't necessarily a recommendation, but the teacher at our school who teaches most of the science/quiz extracurriculars said that school was holding me back and I should just drop out. She also guaranteed I'd get a 36 on the ACT. Pretty flattering. I hope she's right.

i was reading a question for a reccomendation: what are the first three words that come to mind to describe this person?

what so you think would be the most outstanding words to list?

Wow. I'd hate to have to write a recommendation responding to that...

Best may be: Industrious, Thoughtful, and Determined (or synonyms that sound better)

I think they're the best because they are all rather ambiguous, so you can talk about multiple facets of a person's personality with only one word. For example: Thoughtful can mean the student is smart, caring, socially aware, and responsible, and the recommender can talk about all of the without wasting one of their three words. But maybe I'm thinking about this too "strategically."

so if you were reading an app about a kid w/ a 4.0, perfect score, etc... what would be the best to counter those great stats?

One of my recommenders mentioned how gracefully I, as a mere 11th-grader, handled the difficult position of being the best student in AP English Lit & Comp (a 12th-grade class). :D
