Today I finally gathered all 5 of my teacher recs in front of me and read them, really read them. (for my EA application)

I was seriously touched by what some of them wrote...my 10th grade English teacher's one nearly made me cry...he was like "she has this slightly off-beat sense of humor and always has a crooked smile delivering a punchline. She always has a sparkle in her eye and I've loved teaching her. A real student."

aww!

share some other nice rec comments from yours

Oh, I'm definitely not supposed to have read them. Luckily my guidance counselor doesn't give a crap. I signed the waiver part anyway.

Actually, the common app doesn't make you waive it. also two of the recs were informal ones so I got to read those.

I've read pretty much every rec I've been given over the years. My teachers trust me. And I trust them also, but I love having that ego boost from reading the recs.

to teddy roosevelt? Yah I can see how that would be bad-- "so and so is a great student; he crashes through schoolwork like Roosevelt through Latin America"

The waiver only means that the university you ultimately enroll at can't show you the recs. Your teachers or counselor can show you, and the waiver has no bearing on that :)
