Personally, so far I've got a week of creative writing at UMass Amherst lined up, and an internship at Eric Carle Museum application pending...

In what sorts of amazing ways are you going to spend your time this summer? Perhaps you've got an extensive self-crafted reading list to get through, or a great job, or a lousy job, or you're volunteering overseas, or being a camp counselor, or relaxing for once. Do share.

I'm going to do research at Hofstra University on native New York turtles... and health doesn't fit into my schedule for senior year, so it's summer school for me.

I'm getting on a Russian Square Rigger that will be sailing around the Noth Sea, which will be followed by sailing on a Military Oiler doing Underway Replinishments around the fleet which will be followed by a month long internship with the Joint Chiefs.

Wow, these are amazing summer plans! You guys are gonna have oodles of fun. I'll be working some ordinary job this summer, but I'll make it amazing somehow. :)

-job
-cousin's wedding in Chicago
-graduate hs (not technically summer, but around the time summer begins)
-working on going to Japan
-if not, travel elsewhere
-hopefully find out we're buying a house in FL
-my birthday
-buy a ton of stuff for college

oh yeah, it's my birthday too. And... how could I manage to forget mentioning that the SEVENTH HARRY POTTER BOOK comes out this summer?!! I think I'm doing, like... a camping retreat with some friends. We'll read it in the woods by firelight or something. It needs to be sacred.

7 days at Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego (meeting some people at San Diego Zoo)

Environmental Initiatives Internship @ Lincoln Park Zoo ($10/hr for checking power and water gauges)

Internship with Reproductive Physiologist at the Davee Center for Epidemiology and Endocrinology @ Lincoln Park Zoo

Can someone help me out and tell me how to find out about cool summer plans like this that would be good ECs?
Like: doing research at Hofstra University, creative writing at UMass Amherst, other workshops like that at universities?

I hear people talking about these all the time, but I don't know where they found out these ever existed!

My chemistry teacher went to UMass, so that's how he knew about it. Do you live near any schools? I live near Amherst & the 5 colleges, which is a lucky location for those sorts of things. Search the websites of nearby colleges, perhaps.

I'll be taking college-level economics and sociology classes at Penn for 6 weeks, then coming back and doing tons of volunteer work at my local university hospital, going to band camp, and visiting colleges in the midwest.

I'm going backpacking for a month on the Appalachian Trail with my brother (3 years older) who will have recently returned from 6 months in Europe. That should be fun, if not college app worthy :-D.

I live by USF and their satelite (i think that's what they call them) campus's. Actually, my mom works at one of them. But of course that's not a MAJOR university... do you think if I did any summer programs they offered at USF that it would stand out or at least look good on my college ap? =/
