yeah, you’re right. I don’t think I’m going to be employing that tactic on the 12B
The answer for problem 1 looks completely wrong. The answer says A/E, but it should be C (1/5). Weird working with calculus on this problem.

Some dumb person who doesn’t know calculus and was just fooling around probably wrote it. What is the integral from 0 to 1 equal to anyway?
Edit: Fixed #1 on AoPS
Integral from 0 to 1 depends on the equation lol
Sorry for the bump but does anyone know when cutoff scores are announced. Got mad close to 100 (99 probably) if I didn’t miscount my score so I’m really nervous.
I remember the cutoff (or was it when they started uploading stats on the website?) was announced in around two weeks - right before the B competition. So I’m guessing some time around 2/17, perhaps. But then again, this year’s 12B is on the 25th so they might not announce it for a while.
darnnnn i missed 150 againnnn T.T that -1 solution was not cool… AMC 12s are starting to feel like the F=ma exam…
I’d predict a cutoff in the high 90s, but wait for the official cutoff to come out in two weeks or so
@69forthewin Lots of Asians (especially Koreans) found the AMC 12A this time to be easy, so it is possible that the cutoff score won’t lower at all
Really sucks because I’m pretty sure I got 99. Mad torture.
Took it. Got plowed. Whatevs man.
Pretty sure I got 103.5. Anything above 100 is good right?
@iamcalvin Yup, anything 100 or above is automatic qualification for AIME
But I’m still dying to know the actual cutoff and if I statistically improved from last year lol.
@iamcalvin A score of 100+ guarantees AIME qualification, and is a good score (i.e. can be worth mentioning when applying to college).
But if your goal is to make USA(J)MO, a 103.5 is fairly weak and you’ll need a high AIME score. I barely missed USAMO qualification one year with a low-ish AMC 12 score (around 110) and an 8 on AIME.
MAA is starting to release the statistics http://amc-reg.maa.org/reports/generalreports.aspx . It seems like the AIME cutoff is going to be 99 and the Distinguished Honor Roll cutoff is somewhere around 117, but it may change a bit as they enter in more data.
Ugh. So I guess I didn’t improve that much from last year relatively speaking…off to study some more!
cutoff is 99
Based on AOPS solutions i got a 114 but does anyone know when the list of names and scores will be available on the above link so I can confirm?
They have started posting the honor roll on the statistics site posted earlier. You all can check there to see if you have qualified for AIME. Keep checking over the next few days if your name isn’t there yet.
YAAAAAS thank god!
I still don’t see my name on the Honor roll list… My estimated score was about 103.5. Hopefully the name shows up tonight…
They’re updating it slowly lol. Don’t worry; I’m pretty sure you did great.
Why is updating so slow? It’s 12B today.
