I was signed up for this exam by my teacher because Im in honors math.
But I really dont want to take it because I looked at a sample test and it was really hard.
Do colleges have access to AMC scores/grades?
Will it be bad if I do badly on the test? Would colleges care?

Colleges will not have access to your score. They would only know you took it if you happened to score well and therefore mention it in your app (like if you got best in your school, or made it to the AIME). My school forces the top honors students to take it every year, and most of the people use it as a time to doodle.

No, it will not hurt you.

wont hurt, my teacher said it could help if you do really well though.

Well MIT and Caltech are the only two colleges I know of that specifically ask for your AMC score. But that’s it. And it will help you for college if you make it past the first round, and even simply qualifying for the second exam, the AIME, and doing poorly won’t look too good, but it still shows you have an exemplary ability in math.

Yeah, it’s pretty hard. Only 1 kid from my school advanced to the second round in the last 5 years, even though the top kids in my school take it. I was my schools winner last year, but I scored an 85.5 only lol.
