american university of bulgaria

I am an american college student attending Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. I am from NJ and currently living in a beach house for the summer. My neighbors happen to be a bunch of young Bulgarians. I have fallen in love with their culture and language. I really would like to study there for a semester my junior year but I know little to nothing about AUBG. Does the school have a good reputation? What are they known for? I am a Spanish major, and I will be spending the other half of my junior year in a Spanish speaking country. I noticed that AUBG offered courses in linguistics, so I am very interested. Does anyone know what the town is like that AUBG is located in? What do most students do on the weekends? Do many travel to Greece, etc. over their winter break? Do most people speak English? I have no prior experience with Bulgarian language. How useful is it to speak Bulgarian internationally? AHhhhH! I am so excited! If you respond, I will love you forever!

Valuable, I've always been interested in your posts. My son shares your passion about Kenyon. 4 of his HS classmates are going to AUBG in the fall. I can put you in touch with them.

Well I happen to live in Bulgaria not in Blagoevgrad where the college is located but in another larger city in Bulgaria Rousse which is near the River Danube. I don't know much about the college but I'm considering applying as a first year student (actually my intention is to apply to an US college but if things don't work out for me this would be my first choice for a college in Bulgaria :)
What can I tell you about Bulgarians :) Well we really are great fun... If you want parties... a good company, ot just a new experience from a totally different culture you should definitely come here :) And besides this I'm absolutely sure you would love the country and the nature and cuisine and everything :)

Оh one more thing Yes many Bulgarians speak English in fact most of them do so you won't have any problems with the communication and if you like to you could find someone to help you with the Bulgarian it's not that tough and many foreigners consider it "very interesting".

mjmom- i would absolutely love you if you could put me in touch with those AUBG students. Thank you so much. I am not sure if you have kept up with my post. I was accpeted to Kenyon as a transfer, but decided to stay at Hendrix. Yet, Kenyon is always close to my heart.

Violina-
Bulgaria already seems like so much fun from what my neighbors have described. They are all so nice and yes, fun to party with! lol Do you know anything about their programs?
