American University of Paris

Hi everyone!

So I'm trying to study abroad at AUP and I can't really find anything on acceptance rates. I'm going through one of their partner college (GWU) and in our portal it says the minimum GPA is 2.75. Idk if thats what it is for AUP or not bc the minimum for GW itself is 2.75. Thats not really important bc my GPA is a 3.0. Anyway, the application for study abroad is also kind of weird because I can literally finish it in 20 min. There's no personal statement, no essay, nothing. just fill out the info and send a transcript and disciplinary record, which is odd to me. Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone has any info/experiences on it! Thanks in advance!

Hi adababy845,

I never studied there so I can’t tell you anything first hand but a couple of things come to mind regarding the ease of the applicaiton process.

If they have an agreement with your school, that may have something of an open enrollment policy for students at your school.

Maybe they are trying to compete with the Sorbonne. The Sorbonne university in Paris basically has an open enrollment policy for its French Language & Culture program for foreign students (that’s common in Europe). The only requirement is that you be at least 18 years old (the may require I high school diploma as well).

There may be many reasons for the minimum 2.75 grade point average, but one important one is that if your grade point average falls to much, you can lose your financial aid - which is money they would like to collect from you to have their fees paid.

Anyway, if the application process is an easy one, it means they want study abroad students, or your school’s agreement with them just makes it an easy process.

Only thing I would suggest is to do what you have done here - try to get more information about whether former students liked or disliked the program and why.

Good hunting!

They just want your money. Seriously, my daughter was at AUP this summer, I think it was an excellent location.
