We are in Denver, and my daughter received an email this afternoon telling her that “good news is on the way” and that her letter is in the mail. The email stated that they were letting us know a little early because AU is hosting a New Eagle welcome soon (date: March 31 in Denver).
I have not seen any other posters receiving emails nor many posters outside the Atlantic seaboard so just wanted to provide this information.
Spring 2020 guys:
Log onto myAU and go to Life @ AU > New Students > Enrollment Agreement
It’ll most likely say that you got admitted into the mentor ship program, which you can then read up about
My son got accepted tonight via a mailed package. Accepted into SIS. Apparently, 19,000 applicants and 1,760 admitted. 8k Deans scholarship.

Basically he loves politics and international affairs, and that came through in essays and his classes. He was academically on a big upward curve as well, after coming into the States as a Sophomore, and having to get into the groove. I think passion for the subject got him over the line.
I wish eveyone the best with their decisions, if it doesn’t work for American it will somewhere else, and in the end it’s what you put into it that matters, not the label.
We’re not from the States and when I got here I was amazed at how friggin bright and hardworking you students are, crazy town.
My daughter wasn’t able to get in to set up a portal this afternoon but she just tried a few minutes ago and it worked! Hoping it works for the rest of you!!
I just found out via the AU portal that I was accepted!! I have not recieved an email or letter in the mail yet, but I’m still beyond ecstatic! I will list my stats below;
ACT: 33
SAT: N/A
GPA: 3.8/4.2
Location: Seattle, WA
Term: Fall 2019
Major: Political Science
Scholarship: Dean’s Scholarship
@kiwimeister Congrats to you and your son! I saw the numbers you mention previously and think there is a misunderstanding. AU reported 18,950 applicants and an admit rate of 31 percent last year. 19,000 applicants and 1,760 admitted would be an admit rate of 9%. I think the class size of expected acceptances is aimed for 1,760 freshman to show up… from a group of accepted students in the 5000 range.
What you’ve written is likely true. The accompanying letter states that they are filling 1760 freshmen class spaces. Doesn’t say how many are admitted.
We have not received mail yet but just set up a portal account for my son. It says congratulations but lists Spring 2020. It also states that the Fall 2019 mentorship program in DC is full but a few spots remain for two international locations. My take is that they have over and above applicants and while some may have great apps, they didn’t show enough interest and they don’t want to risk an empty seat for fall.
@washdcgorl Did you get the USPS informed delivery set up? We have ‘something’ coming today that does not have an image but that could be so many things. We are in the Dallas burbs, what about you?
I tried to get into my portal (no letter yet) and at first it let me past the first step and onto the enter password page and answer their tech survey. I hit enter and the page timed out so I had to start over. Now when I enter the info on the first page it says that I can’t access my portal and to contact the help desk. Thoughts?
It says “Sorry, there was a problem! The information you submitted does not match our records. Please make sure that the submitted AU ID matches the one provided in your admission letter, and that you did not mis-type your birth date, social security number, or telephone information. Please try again.
Please contact the Help Desk if you need assistance.” Does that mean it’s jusy glitched since I was able to get past this before or rejected?
Same, either that or it directs me to a page that says congrats and to make a student account but then it just leads me back to the verification page again so???
