American University, UMN, Boston University, Emerson College, UMich, UChicago, UWash

I am a junior, and just a prelude: I am not of the one percent. I do not receive perfect grades or have the means to obtain amazing opportunities. I'm from MN. I either plan on majoring in Cell Biology or something similar (pre med) or Public Relations (pre law).

Purely Numbers:
GPA: 3.3 w (School does not provide uw & I know it's not amazing, okay?)
AP and Honors: AP Geo, Honors English, APUSH, Honors Chemistry, AP Bio, AP World, and APLAC.
(Since I am a junior, I will have 4 additional AP classes to that list and one college class)
ACT: 31 (25-math, 32-reading, 32-english, 33-science, 9-writing)

ECs (this will be my senior year):
-Speech Team- member 4 years, peer coach 2 years, captain 3 years
-DECA- member 3 years, VP 1 year, participant at International competition, 2 year state finalist
-Student Council- member 2 years, Head of Royalty Committee 2 years, VP 2 years
*Student Council: Creator of "Legacy Project" a project that recognizes students in each grade level on their achievements
-Peer leadership- 2 years
-Girls State
-Speech camp
-Job at Ice Cream place for less than a year (don't really want to put this down)
-BU Summer Term for High School Students 2012 (took two college courses-earned A and A-)

Volunteering:
-Political campaigns (60+ hours)
-Public Defenders Office (organizing files, doing free lance work for lawyers, etc--been doing since the 7th grade)

Possible hook:
-First gen college student

I am also not a citizen of the United States, I'm a permanent resident--will this hinder my chances??

Chance me:
BU
American University
University of MN-Twin Cities
Emerson College
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
UChicago
UWash

UChicago- Super Reach
American- Reach
BU- Reach
UMich- Reach
Rest Matches

Uchicago: nope
UMich: mid-reach
American: low reach
BU: low reach
In at the rest

Friedman, your UChicago “nope” made me laugh out loud. That’s exactly what I said to my mom when she suggested I apply, but she is insisting I apply…

BU-low reach
UMich-reach
UChicago-big reach
American-low reach
UWash-low reach
In at rest

Bump (sorry)

Bumppppppp

UWA: Reach (albeit lower than at UMI or U Chicago; reachable if you can pay full-freight)
U Chicago: Reach
American: High match
UMI: Reach
BU: High match
UMN: Match
Emerson: Match

Perhaps Drexel if you can afford it… it’s one of the more splitter-friendly colleges I know of.

I hate to say it, but every college (with the exception of Emerson) on your list is a reach. A 3.3 weighted GPA is not going to look good.
