<p>How are Americans living abroad supposed to fill out the FAFSA forms? Do we use information from the tax documents from our country? Should we convert the figures to U.S. dollars? I'm currently living in Canada right now.</p>
<p>It depends on your case, are you an American abroad, but paying US taxes as a resident of a particular state...then you are a resident of that state for university purposes and use your tax return.
If you are filing CA taxes, use those numbers, as best you can, be sure to adjust the exchange rate to US values. Keep a record as to how you determine the exchange rate etc.</p>
