Anyone here go to DIVOH? Or has legacy?
I checked my email every fifteen minutes ?
You’re like me then! We are all in this together.
The fires in California also meant a lot of people were negatively affected, with many people completely without power, and I know many colleges including Amherst extended their ED deadlines because of it. Amherst extended to 11/10 for those impacted. Seeing how many applicants are coming from CA, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was another factor in pushing back the decision date.
Good luck to everyone! All we can do now is wait.
That makes sense.
But I hope they would at least give us an estimation ? so I won’t be checking everyday and all the time.
It is making me happy to be on this forum. I am thankful to hear from each of you. Good luck to everyone!
Same!!! Everyone, good luck!(commenting makes me less nervous
What was the ED acceptance rate for class of 2023? I can’t find it online.
For the Fall 2017 entering class (the most recent I could find), early decision applicants had a 38% acceptance rate.
I’m glad other people are also constantly checking their emails. On Tuesday I must have checked every ten minutes
@DSNSW01 Although, the ED is really meant for like recruited athletes and rich kids, usually legacies. I would not be surprised if out of the 178 admitted or-so kids from the Fall 2017 class, 78 of them were athletes.
@wyntersauce True. You can’t forget about DIVOH students either, they usually accept 150 or so kids from that program as well over ED and RD. So, I guess the number really comes down to 50 actual ED acceptances.
Now I’m feeling that I will get rejected ? I didn’t know athletics was that important. I have zero experience in athletic and have no legacies.
A lot of us feel that way who don’t fall into that category. It’s tough.
My path to this point has been very non-traditional and eclectic. That may weigh in my favor, but it may work against me as well. I try not to overthink it. However, as we all wait for the ED results, it’s tough not to reflect. It’s as if we’re all sharing detention at The Breakfast Club, waiting for the Saturday to be over. lol Good luck to everyone!
I tried to message you but it wouldn’t let me. So, are you a nontraditional student? If so, that’s awesome!
Yeah but a lot of those kids don’t ED to Amherst anyways because 1) Lots of kids in that program aren’t financially well-off so EDing anywhere could be bad if the school doesn’t give enough money, so most tend to RD to a lot of places and 2) Even if you qualified for DIVOH, doesn’t mean Amherst is your top choice. So maybe like out of those 50 or so kids that go to DIVOH maybe like 10 ED?
@ReindeerClarice you need 15 posts to e able to send messages. Anti-spam thing.
I know a few Amherst grads who came in ED - not legacy or athletes.
Good luck everyone.
Yeah. I guess everyone in this discussion is stressed out.

I partly agree with you. However, most of the time they don’t need to worry about financial aid, because if they can’t afford the school, it would be a good reason to turn down the offer.
Do financial aid results and decision results become avail. at the same time? Or do decision results come first
