Amherst College 2024 ED discussion

@DSNSW01 I heard that yes, they do tend to come right when admissions come. In one year, though, they came out a day before.

@wyntersauce How did financial aid information come out a day before? Wouldn’t that reveal if you had gotten in or not? I thought they only determined financial aid for those who they already decided they would accept,

Iirc it was like “if you get in, here is what your gift would be”

@ReindeerClarice - What I meant by stating that I had a non-traditional path has to do with some of the choices I made in high school. For example, my high school weighted dual-enrollment courses more than AP courses, and this may be problematic for me. It made sense to take college dual-enrollment courses instead of AP courses so that I could earn the highest weighted GPA possible; however, that resulted in having zero AP courses on my transcript. Instead, I have 15 college courses listed. Some admissions departments prefer AP/IB courses over dual-enrollment courses (e.g., UGA). I have no idea Amherst’s preference. This is just one example of many I could share.

@wyntersauce Oh I see. Thank you.

Hopefully fate will be with us. Whatever happens happens for a reason. I just wish I could shake out my nerves!

So nervous, like usually Amherst has a few students from my country. I had hoped that the smaller pool would allow me to stand out with my stats and awards. But all this talk of athletics and legacy has got me so scared. Does mentioning that you have played a sport for three years at state and national level help?

@IntlApplicant101 The boost you get from athletics is for those applicants who are being recruited to be on one of the sports teams. If you aren’t being recruited, your involvement in athletics or your non involvement in athletics is not going to factor in to the decision. Good luck.

Yes, I think this way too!

Got the email///

Release date confirmed Wednesday at 6:21 EST! GL yall!

!!!the email!!!

It’s better than Friday the 13th! I’m LIT!! It feels like Christmas morning! I just hope I don’t get a lump of coal! Good luck everyone!

Good luck everyone! I am rooting for all of you!

I believe my application was the best I possibly could have done (minus a few unfortunate typos, gulp!) So, even if I don’t get accepted, at least I know I did my best!

Yes. My son is a legacy and went to DIVOH. He’s applied Early Decision. Email out earlier today saying decisions will be posted on Wednesday at 6:21pm ET (1821 was the year Amherst was founded so they’re being very clever). Good luck to all.

Best of luck to your son!

I know a number of kids that have gotten in ED w/out athletics or legacy. Keep the faith. We’ll all know on Wednesday. But even if you don’t get in ED, there’s still RD. If you really want to go to Amherst and have the credentials, don’t give up.

Did results post ?

No, but they are coming out Wednesday.

Ok. Thx. Got worried when no one posted. Wishing you all well.
