Amherst regular decision thread

Domestic Asian, no email. Any hope?

Crap, really want to go to Amherst over Chicago.

Titan, I just got my Carleton waitlist letter too, so it is making me pretty nervous about this coming week… Good Luck to everyone!

Titan and Lecorbusier …

Can I ask your stats? Something very strange is going on … I was accepted yesterday at Wesleyan, but waitlisted at what I thought was big-time safety school - UNC Chapel Hill …

All I can figure is they didn’t want out-of-staters at a state school. I’ve been hearing A LOT of stories about admits / waitlisting results having no logic.

so diversity open house is only for US citizens>? any international get this ?

I second that question about whether Domestic Asian applicants not getting emails for the DivOH, does that mean we’re screwed or are we okay until real decisions come out? And yeah I got waitlisted at UChicago so I’m not feeling too good about this week >.>

I’m so white and so under-qualified! Wahhh.

Sent from my DROIDX using CC

@rpraderio: #firstworldproblems

Haha but I know what you mean. I’m sure you’re not under-qualified, don’t worry. We’ll all go where we’re supposed to go.

I’m hispanic, so I’m thinking that if I was accepted I would’ve gotten an e-mail for diversity day…normally I don’t extrapolate like that, but I don’t know. Guess I’ll see on Friday.

Meh, it’s all good.

Anyone have any plans to make the week go by quickly? I’m thinking Mad Men premiere tomorrow night, and seeing The Hunger Games (again, holy mother it was amazing) Monday or Tuesday morning. State testing, morning-off half days. Awh yeah.

Watching TedTalks to kill time.

I didn’t get an email either, and I was invited to the DivOH in October, for students applying. Something like 75-85% of people who apply after attending get in, so I think only a select few students are invited to this one. Otherwise I’m going to feel really bad about not getting in with those odds!

Also wondering whether domestic Asians are considered under “diversity.”

Any internationals get the email?

LOL, no email. And I check my junk mail everyday :stuck_out_tongue: LOOL

Wow, I guess this is it for me. (I’m an international)

not fair that they send out emails before the deadline

@littlepenguin: Yes, domestic Asians are considered for “diversity,” though they may be considered for geographic diversity rather than racial. I got an email from the Diversity Dean, and I am an Asian from Texas.

Guys, when you log into your Amherst account does it say in the top left corner that your financial aid award has been determined? That’s what my account says, but I have not received any email saying that I am admitted/rejected/waitlisted. How should I interpret this? I am international from the EU.

And then it says “You may review your awards.” For the financial aid thing…

Mine says nothing of the sort…

LOL, now this is just insane. First they have the early writes, and then the invites to the diversity event, and then these little teasers on the AC Data login page.

What’s the point of the notification date again?

But still…

I have no clue what this is. Is it a mistake? Is it an indication of acceptance? What the heck is it?

haha!! Amk933, as much as not having it bothers me, I can imagine what a torment it is to HAVE it but without a single friggin clue as to what it really means!

safe to say- they’re processing your fin aid package right now :stuck_out_tongue: Or are done processing it. I don’t know what else to make of it…

Would hurt even more if it was actually found out to be nothing in the end right?!

I have the “review your awards” thing, too, but when I click on it I just get a document checklist. The email says that financial aid will be mailed on the 5th, so I’m thinking that’s just a mistake on the website.
Also, I’m white and I got the diversity email, so their qualifications for diversity are probably a little weird (I’m thinking I got it because I’m low income, but who knows?). So, don’t assume you got rejected if you didn’t get the email because they might not be targeting who you think they’re targeting.
