Amherst regular decision thread

See I got the email too and it says I got in because I could contribute to socio-economic and ethnic diversity- but I’m a middle class Asian from New York…

Which leads me to believe that they are looking at more…maybe it has to do with my overcoming extreme adversity, which was a part of my application as well.

I got an early write earlier this month. I recieved my financial aid info by snail mail shortly after. I also got the Diversity Open House email.

Quick question:

Does your ACData status say:

“The designated date to view your letter has not yet arrived. We expect your letter to be ready on March 30 2012. Please check back at that time.”

In the neurosis-inducing haze of March Madness, I’m starting to equate the terseness of my status statements with the likelihood of acceptance so not looking good for Amherst (I never had much confidence anyways) :(

@carbon: No, my ACData says the same thing, but I was recruited for diversity purposes.

@carbon mine says the same thing. No need to worry.

Sent from my DROIDX using CC

Haha I didn’t notice that I got an email from the “Diversity Dean”. I just saw it as an acceptance letter and invitation to Overnight Open House. That’s what happens late at night I guess…

Asian from California though. My friend from my school also got the email and he’s also Asian. Definitely geographic diversity.

Did anybody happen to get a Decision Notice email from the Admissions office?

It’s so wierd. Here I was madly checking my ‘Application Status’ over and over again…

And then this letter magically arrived in my inbox at the exact same time, as if Amherst had sensed my insanity…and was asking me to chill…

What an ■■■ moment XD hahaha

Yes, I got that e-mail, too. My heart just stopped pounding for a moment. =)

Yes - it came early this morning. Email informing that the decisions will be posted late Friday afternoon. Best of luck to all!

Yeah, just got that e-mail. Friday will come before we know it!

Can any past applicants shed any light on the diversity open house e-mail? If you haven’t received it (and you’re Asian), does that mean you likely have not been accepted?

Littlepenguin, I see we’re both freaking out! :)

Considering admission decisions have been made and will be released on Friday, I think you should take it as a good sign.

I was just reading this thread about the fin aid thing…and then I logged on to my account only to find my entire file is incomplete!the horror, the horror!
I checked with my ccs profile and idoc…both said it’s available…so it should just be a system glitch rite? Besides I got into another lac with fin aid…so the information must be available…phew…I was so scared…but then again being an international with not so stellar sat…and getting three rejects two waitlists and only one acceotance when ivy day hasnt even arrived… I really don’t have much hope…
I would kill to go to Amherst…T.T

@ kaitokaito…I think very soon they’re going to have Hunger Games for Ivy/ Top LACs admissions XD

what does “late in the day” on friday mean? Like, evening? Afternoon? any guestimates?

They also said “late in the day” for the ED round, and I got my admissions notification at around 2-ish pm (eastern time). It might be different for RD, though!

Oh okay, cool. Thanks! Do they email you or do you need to check your account?

I’m actually not sure if they email you, I was checking acdata on my phone all day long so I found out almost immediately after they posted it.

Hey I just checked AC Data and my decision was up. I was waitlisted! :)

The letter said March the 30th but its still the 29th here on the west coast…so I don’t know if they only put up a few decisions, or just put up waitlisted students, or what, but its worth checking out.

To you guys who were also waitlisted, Im going to regect thier waitlist offer and go to Pomona so you have one less competitor for an admission spot!

Good Luck everybody!
