Just wondering, how many AP classes must I take to seem like I'm challenging myself? I will have taken 8 AP classes total in my high school career at the moment, and I'm wondering if it seems like a good amount. My school offers 21 AP classes.

You want to aim for a very “rigorous schedule” as determined in the context of your school. Asking your guidance counselor or an upperclassman from your school can be a good idea :).

Usually you look at your subjects and see if they have APs available to you. You should nt go out of your way to just make them all APs. So if you are in band, orchestra, newspaper etc and you love that, dont just drop it because you think you need to replace it with an AP just because you think that is what is expected. If you finished 8 and your school offers 21, you probably should be able to do another 5 or 6 though through school or more if some of them are semester APs.

It really depends on the difficulty of your AP’s. If you’re taking all the rigorous ones- Chem, Physics, Calculus- you’ll be fine. Just have a little more variety though. You need go be well rounded to some degree.

Yes, AP English Literature, Calculus BC, Physics C, and Chemistry will look better than AP Statistics, Physics B, Environmental Science, and Psychology.
