...An annoying thread. Look at it anyway.

I am a half-Asian (Chinese and Filipino) male from Tennessee. My school doesn't offer many AP classes (only three), and they usually have scheduling conflicts.

Rice is my top choice, and I know you guys don't know if I'll get in or not, but what do you THINK my chances are? I've posted this before, but I thought I'd put it in the Rice forum for obvious reasons. Yes, I do realize that this is super long. :D

Responses will be greatly appreciated. :D Yes, some of you may have seen this before, but I didn't get very many responses...just a lot of bumps.

Oh, and I plan on applying ED. Stupid thing won't let me edit it...

Your ACT is already very good. Bring up some of the other scores and you'll be in good shape.

bump

you've got a good shot. definitely apply.

Thank you. I am actually kind of worried. Maybe I'll impress them during the interview.

Bump, like whoa.

BUMP number 3.

it's like a pinball machine... you can't bump it too much or it will break

yeahallie - APPLY!!!!! But don't bump anymore, because, quite frankly, it's annoying, and we really can't tell you anything that you don't already know. Rice may very well accept you - (they are planning to grow the university over the next several years, and are looking to admit more out-of-state students while holding the number of instate students steady) - then again, they may not accept you. Please DO apply, but please also apply to some safety schools. Good luck! :)

Just make sure that you convey who you are (focusing on the positive sides) in your application and you'll be fine. Of course, I won't guarantee you a place but I think you have a good chance. And your scores that you call "aweful" aren't a problem. Your SAT score is weak but your ACT is great. SAT Subject Scores are good too.

But then I know you're still worried (I was), so here's something that you can do instead of bumping this thread forever lol:
SAT Subject Scores can improve (they're good, but obviously can be better)
For Bio, I'd suggest you use Kaplan. My bio course barely covered ecology and was really patchy on the molecular section but I used that and got a 780.

How is a 710 awful? You seem to have a skewed perspective. Too much time on CC.
