An early hint of rejection?

sDali,
ahh!! good! glad to hear that.
did they say when they started to review finaid applications? and when they are planning to notify students of missing parts?

They didnt say when they began but they did say they would be sending out notices very soon. I'm thinking that they Know who was admitted and will send out finaid notifications with the acceptances and just send a plain ole rejection letter to us. It saves so much paperwork and creates so much tension for us!!

us meaning to me in particular.

I never meant to say that any of u would be rejected. Pls dont misinterpret. :)

I got a letter last week about a missing form in my financial aid application...

ooo... they lied to me!

shmaller, do you know of anyone else who received one?

Does Stanford request financial documents through IDOC for all applicants? Why is IDOC utilized by some schools and not others?

It is a service which you send your documents to (e.g. tax forms, W-2s, 1099s, schedules, etc.) and IDOC (the agency) sends this to your university. Stanford participates in the IDOC program.

I got something from IDOC that I needed to send in my tax forms for Stanford.

It's a voluntary program buzzwick.

Georgetown, for example, doesn't participate in IDOC; Stanford does.

It ranges from the financial aid offices of each school and their preference.

There is not really a solid behind using or not using IDOC. However, since most private schools use CSS Profile, a product of the College Board, and IDOC belongs to college board, information is linked between CSS and IDOC and hence the option of using IDOC by some universities.

Thanks for the info on IDOC. I think it is a good system for the applicant who might be applying to many schools. However, I found that only 3 out of the 11 schools my son applied to use IDOC. We ended up sending 8 sets of tax documents to the other schools!

Buzzwick:

Gees, 8 sets?
Well if the tax forms were due May 1st (like for some of my schools) I didn't send them (just in case I got rejected or chose not to attend).

If the deadline was ASAP or April 1st, that would be a different matter.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

sorry, just thought that needed to be said :o

ill join u

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :eek:

mee too...

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

:D

I shall to join in this celebration of frustration and anticipation:

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanfooooooooooooooooooooord!

That does feel good. :cool:

Interesting thread from a few years ago

Has anyone received any information from F/A office regarding missing documents etc.?

Has Stanford showed up in your idoc list of colleges?

If you are missing any F/A documents, and Stanford has not yet requested them, how can they complete the F/A package when admissions are made? Or perhaps they will send the F/A package days/weeks after the admission decisions?

I am still waiting on 10 schools (Ivys, Stanford, Northwestern). I applied for financial Aid, sent in FAFSA, CSS, then called all of the schools saying that I would not be able to file my IDOC by the March 1st deadline and they said it’s fine just send it in when you can, they just wouldn’t give me a finaid package when they sent me my decision letter, but I didn’t give any of them info about who I am or anything.

I received a notification from Columbia about 3 weeks ago. Didn’t receive anything from the other 9.

@Schfinx:
Among the schools I applied for, 5 of them require IDOC documents, and 4 of them, including MIT and Caltech (which I was already admitted into) immediately showed up in my IDOC page except Stanford. I fully expected a rejection on March 25. Too bad Stanford is still my #1 choice. I applied REA and got deferred. If I was admitted at REA, I would not even apply to the other schools.

Good luck to all!!! No matter what is going to happen on March 25, deep in our heart and soul, Stanford remains #1, and my dream school

Oh, well I received an IDOC notification from collegeboard at the beginning of March (right on the deadline, for whatever reason) and I didn’t bother to log in then because my tax stuff wasn’t ready. But now because I was curious I logged in earlier today, all the schools I applied to showed up on the required page (including MIT which I was rejected RD to). I’m sure this shows up regardless.

I think the general debate is whether the specific school emailing you specifically saying that they need documents is an indication of the decision to come.

@littlesunshine44

Did you call CollegeBoard or Stanford to ask why the school name did not show up on your IDOC page?

@Schfinx

Did you check under the “Check Status” page, or just the “IDOC Requirements” page?

I too am curious about the correlation between acceptance decisions and emails, but I highly doubt that they indicate anything other than the fact that they are missing information from prospective students.

Well for IDOC I was informed a while back that I would need to submit the additional forms for Stanford, but that was through College Board. I believe that it’s only if you submit a CSS profile.
