An F Senior Year

I might get an F in a half year AP course. I can retake the course in night school, so I'll graduate. But will colleges rescind my admission if they see I failed a course? I'm planning to attend either FSU or UCF.

bumpbumpbump

They could, I don't know whether they will or not. How badly do they want you?

Among UCF and FSU's acceptees, my SAT score is in about the 80th percentile; my GPA, the 50th; and my ECs suck.

No adcom wants to see an F...ever! You just better have a good explanation ready...for the adcom, not for us on CC!

I know someone who got an F in junior year (encountered a teacher with 'issues'). And even though that student's transcript was otherwise stellar, and the student made up for the F with honors in summer school, the grade revealed a potential "flaw" in the student's academic performance that adcoms at top tier schools just would not ignore.

An adcom at FSU or UCF may or may not let you slide. Noone on CC can really tell you for sure, unless they have some experience getting in with an F in senior year.

Work your arse off to not get an F, man!

I don't know what I would have done if you didn't tell me "Try not to get an F" and "No one here can tell you, unless they know." Thanks, guys!

I do know someone who was accepted to a college, failed a class, and then had his admission rescinded. So it does happen and, as was mentioned before, you'd better have a damn good reason. As in "I was in a coma for one half and my brother was on his deathbed the other half" sort of reason, not a wishy-washy something with the word senioritis in it.
