Hello,

Cornell always has been my dream school and since it is one of the schools that are need blind to internationals, I was planning on applying ED to Cornell..
However, I recently heard that Cornell only offers limited amount of aid to internationals and people who did not get enough aid can opt out....
If I happen to be in that case ( no enough aid to attend), can I apply to other schools RD and see if I get better aid? and does that mean my Cornell Acceptance Letter is going to a trash can?? (if I opt out from ED agreement)

I am just confused about this whole process.....
I would greatly appreciate your reply! Thank you in advance!

P.S.:
I attend competitive public high school / gpa:4.83/ SAT: 2210/ above average EC/ hopefully good recs.

I would love to get an advice from ppl who have applied to cornell !! :)

Their official website says: “Cornell University provides need-based financial aid on a limited basis to a selected
number of admitted international students who have applied for financial aid. We do not
offer merit, athletic, or talent based aid to students.”

Now, if you get accepted ED, really can’t afford it, you can revoke your application. You cannot apply again to Cornell. Then it’s just up to the RD schools, which likely won’t provide you with any better financial aid…

Cornell is infamous for not providing aid to international students.
Yes, you can decline the acceptance in a case where you do not have or cannot acquire the sufficient funds to attend Cornell University.
However, that means you’re blacklisted from the University.

What I would suggest is to ED at a University that you are 100% sure that offers aid, instead of applying to a university you can’t even afford. I’m not trying to sound mean, but honest to god, getting into a college with early decision is a huge load off your shoulders, so don’t waste that ticket on Cornell.
