And the numbers are in, Final Chances =O

Just got my october SAT scores, so I wanted to make one final chances thread!

Gender: Female
Race: White
Location: Northern California
GPA: 4.0/4.0 UW 4.7/5.0 W
Rank: Due to weird things we JC classes I believe I am currently 2/ 450ish but it changes pretty frequently. Although I was first at the beginning of the year and sent my Brown transcript shortly after I saw that so that transcript may still say I am first.
Took the most rigorous course load possible, I did not take AP US history or AP Spanish which are offered at my school solely because I could not fit them into my schedule without giving up some other AP class.
AP Scores:
Chemistry : 5
Biology: 5
Statistics: 5
English Language: 4
Current Classes:
AP Gov (econ in the spring)
Ceramics (nothing else to take)
AP Lit
AP Calc AB (bc is not offered, and without doing summer school the earliest you can take calculus in my school system is senior year)
AP Physics
Then I have a free sixth period, but at the local junior college (which is a highly ranked junior college) I am taking Spanish 3 ( I have already taken 3 years of spanish in high school but the prerequisites were such that they decided three years of high school spanish but you in spanish 3 at the JC) and will take spanish 4 (the highest level offered) in the spring. I am also taking conversational Chinese (chin50a) in the fall and will take chin50b in the spring (only Chinese classes offered).

Testing Scores;
ACT: 33 Composite, 34 English, 36 Math, 33 Science and.....27 Reading. Essay was 10.
SAT I :
2220 total: 730R, 800M, 690W E8 ( I honestly don't know how I got that essay score, I thought my essay was 1000X better than my other sat or my act essay, both of which got 10's. And I had 5 paragraphs and filled every single line on the pages.)
2030 total: 620R, 740M (missed 2), 670W E10

SAT II's: Math II: 800, Chemsitry: 780

Extracurriculars:
I have down horseback riding since 3rd grade, and now own my own horse and spend 2-3 hours daily caring for her / riding for her, etc. I plan to sell my horse when I go to college, but the intercollegiate horseback riding competitions do not use personal horses, so I plan to join (or at least try out for) Brown's horseback riding team, which is considered a varsity sport at Brown.

I am president of my high schools Key Club (community service). Last year I was secretary and was a member sophomore year. I have done nearly 200 hours of community service through Key Club, and when you combine com. service and admin. hours I devote at least 3-4 hours a week to Key Club.

This summer I had a three week program through John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth in Nanjing, China. I took a course in Advanced Game Theory which sparked my interest in Economics. We also took basic mandarin there which interested me in Chinese (which is why I'm taking it at the junior college currently).

Other extracurriculars include math club since sophomore year, science symposium since sophomore year, and assorted other clubs.

Prospective Majors: Economics, East Asian Studies (Chinese), Mathematics, or Computer Science.

Colleges:
Brown ED
Princeton
U Chicago
UC Berkeley (in state)
Dartmouth
Tufts
Wesleyan
Cornell (both parents attended)
UCLA
UCSD
UCD (already guaranteed admission to, as long as I graduate)

Brown ED-I think you have a very good shot!
Princeton-slight reach
U Chicago-good chance
UC Berkeley (in state)-match
Dartmouth-slight reach/match
Tufts-good chance
Wesleyan-not sure too much about Wesleyan, sorry.
Cornell (both parents attended)-you have a very good chance, esp. with the legacy status.
UCLA-good shot
UCSD-in
UCD-clearly in.

Thanks! I'm hoping things are that optimistic haha. Anyone else?

Hah, I have a very similar SAT with yours - 2230 and an 8 on the essay, which I cannot explain - I thought it was perfect. 4 points down are -60 or -80? Eh, whatever, but 2300 would have been nice. ;)

You're looking good for all of them. Just don't screw up the essays too much.

Yeah a friend of mine got 2300 with an 8 on the essay, and she is a really great writer (writing is not my strongest subject, but I can still pull of an A- in honors/ap english). So who knows, I guess thats just how it goes sometimes when things are subjective.

And yeah my actual application essays I believe are pretty good, haha thanks!

anyone else? begs

cornell double legacy sounds very nice

You have a very good shot at Brown and thus the rest.

sounds like a pretty good deal.
The essays are key of course, but if you can do that, i say you have as good a chance as any.

Thank everyone!

No Princeton, good chance Brown, yes others.
Chance me:
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/587107-kind-posters-please-chance-me-i-beg.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/587107-kind-posters-please-chance-me-i-beg.html</a></p>

Princeton is a reach, Brown is a probable acceptance waiting to happen, as long as ED is involved, in at all the rest.

your grades and test scores are stellar really, plus your ECs are very strong with a lot of depth, variety and leadership. From what you said every part of your application looks just right, and you should be a very strong candidate at all of those schools. Although with my limited knowledge of colleges I'm not really in the position to chance anyone, I'd say you would get in for at least the UCs, Tufts, very good shot for Dartmouth Brown and Cornell. For the rest I don't know, it also depends on the quality of your essays and recommendations.

please chance me back
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/585078-chance-me-these-schools-please-urgent.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/585078-chance-me-these-schools-please-urgent.html</a></p>

Thanks everyone! I think this is the first chances thread I've done that has lifted my spirits haha.

If you also took the SAT in October with the 8 essay, then I'm with you as well. I got an 11 on the last essay, and I thought this one was 100x better than the last one...oh well. Very good chance at Brown.
