Andover, Exeter, Milton

Hi I normally wouldn't post a chance thread, but I spent a lot of time typing all my stats and things up, so I am :)

I'm currently applying for 2010-2011 year as a freshman.

My parents came to the states from China on scholarships

SSAT overall 97%

Interviews (pretty good, but not too outstanding)
Recs (pretty good, but not too outstanding)
Essays (pretty sure that they're good)

Andover
Exeter
Milton

Please be truthful :) I can handle it

Also, I’m applying to significant financial aid, I can only pay about $15000 max

I do think that you are a very strong candidate and I am being truthful. Are you a Chinese American? What do you think are the weak points of your applications? I think the fact that you need significant FA wouldn’t hurt your applications a lot, since Andover’s need-blind and the other schools all have large endowment funds.

Do you have any awards in your litany of extracurriculars?

What I forgot:
Singing: MMEA junior districts
Work: Work at a boarding camp assisting in teaching Chinese kids English

assign:
Thanks! I am chinese american. I think that my recs weren’t as good as they could have been since I don’t really know my teachers that well, as they have around 100 students. Also, my interviews were good, but nothing special.

skisoccer:
I don’t really have any awards, unfortunatley, perhaps getting into junior districts for singing…idk, I never really entered anything :(

Getting into Junior Districts is definitely an achievement. Isn’t it just a chorus composed of 100 of the best singers in the state or so? Your chance is exceptional anyhow…you have no weaknesses whatsoever.

Thanks skisoccer for your opinion. I was in the Eastern MA junior districts which isn’t too hard to get in compared to the orchestra.

Everything seems good.

Andover: waitlisted
Exeter: waitlisted
Milton: waitlisted

you seem like a really exceptional person. I can’t see why you were waitlisted- I mean you seem like someone they’d all be battling to get.

I’m sorry, Paula. However, I may be of some assistance - I turned down my acceptance from Exeter and Milton, so hopefully they’ll be able to offer you a spot!
