Andover Housing Information

When do we learn about that? It's been like 3 months. I'm also wondering about classes, but that was more recent so I won't worry. Does anyone know when or has anyone already gotten theirs?

I’m not sure, but I think my daughter found out about classes when she got to Andover (though she put in her requests in the summer, perhaps you’ve already done that).

After you sent it in your deposit, you should have gotten some placement tests (at least incoming 9th graders did) for math, Spanish, music, etc. , along with class request forms. I can’t remember when those arrived and were due.

Housing assignments were sent in August, I recall. Class schedules/assignments were given when we arrived on campus.

You get to know your class schedules that late??? That means you don’t know what classes you take (except English and History), who are the teachers and what textbooks to use until you arrive on campus. So there’s no way you can buy (cheaper) textbooks (online) in advance?

Oh, I got my placement tests and sent them in. I’m also surprised they come that late.

Freshman usually meet with their advisers before they get their schedule. You are also able to meet with department heads in case you think you should be placed in a different level. I think they might put a tentative schedule for freshman on PAnet a couple days before you arrive at school. If you want to buy from Amazon you can still do that. Just borrow the books from a friend or use library copies until they arrive.

Thanks, sugerkim. Would they post the textbook information with the tentative schedule? You can’t buy textbooks based on what’s used the previous year can you? The teachers may need a new edition of the book or even a different textbook? By the way, when do we get the PANet account?

The textbook information is posted on PAnet and sometimes on the main Andover site usually a week or so before classes start. It varies term by term though. You can always email the department heads and ask about required books and they might be able to give you information. Now that I think about it you might not get PAnet info until you get to school. It’s been a long time so I don’t remember if you receive it when you get to school or with your housing information. I remember freshman schedules are posted a while after they are for returning students, but you might not be able to access it without the PAnet log in.

panet accounts are sent out towards the end of summer
