Books

One of the big diffs from public school.

Just bought Ds books from online bookstore and $680 including mail. OW!

yep.
Andover has text exchange, which is nice, and we have the bookstore, so no shipping, but still.

Prettyckitty: Do you know when we get the Andover Book list? Can we do advance shopping?

(Roommate information should be coming soon too?)

Is it possible to purchase used books from graduate students ?

Our store has used books and also buys them back at the end of the term. I have no idea what cent on the dollar they buy back.

Reiterating Brooklyn's question, 'When do the booklist come out and what about info on roomies'.

Brooklyn, if your child wants to know the textbooks for AP Calc BC, AP European and AP Physics then they are as following:

Stewart for Calc
Palmer for AP European
Jearl Walker/Halliday for Physics

All merely the names of the authors and they're all I know as I asked around experienced Andover students because they'll probably be my three hardest subjects. These textbooks were used last year so probably will be used this year as well...

But for everything else if someone could reply, it'd be great!

Once the booklist is available it should be posted on panet or under the parents and students section on the website. Sometimes it comes out very late, especially for fall term. The buy back program isn't that good-maybe 20 cents to the dollar for textbooks.

shore, what grade are you going into? surely not 9th, if you're taking Hist 340.
yeah, the buyback program is bad, I agree.
most of the books you need to wait for. It just doesn't make sense to buy them in advance for 9th graders, except for maybe math (though for some classes the math department makes the math book.) other than that, it really doesn't make sense.

Ouch.
Yet another reason my parents really don't want me to go to boarding school...

Might be more difficult for boarding schools, but at least for non-boarding private schools, buying used books via Amazon or other sources works just fine.

does anyone know which book exeter uses for 20th century history?
I'm trying to figure out a way to buy my textbooks more cheaply.

when you go on to my schools books ordering website, on where you choose payment type it says either credit card or this:

MBS Direct Scholarship or Student Financial Aid (SFA)

Simply enter the VOUCHER ID(ALL CAPS) that was provided in your VOUCHER ID(ALL CAPS) email, as well as your ACCESS ID/STUDENT ID and place your order. If the amount exceeds your available funds or is not covered, you will be asked to enter your credit card information in order to complete the purchase.

I got a scholarship and FA, so do I get this? and how? Is anyone familiar with this?

Back to what BrooklynGuy was asking, does anyone know when the dorm assignments are coming? i'm just dying from curiosty!!!! ugh, i hate waiting.

for my school we find out the day we get there.....
:)
Peace.

emmers44 - You should have received an ID if you received books as part of your fa package. If you're not sure look at your fa paperwork or call the school.

I'm coming in as a tenth grader which is why I am allowed History 340 :)

oh, that's really cool. you're one of our new lowers. Look forward to meeting you. I'm taking 340 as well. it's kind of cool; this is the last time Dr. Q will be teaching the course.
Do you know what dorm you're going to be in yet?
PM me if you have any questions or anything.
By the way, hope for Doc Watt for your physics course.
and, of course, congrats.

Okay, thanks. You a soph?
