so, what would you do between andover or exeter? I got pretty much the same FA offer from each, so it's down to two! pros and cons? and if anybody on these boards go to those schools i'd LOVE your imput!

I'm a senior at Andover, and I'd be happy to answer your questions. Definitely go to revisit days if you can because the schools have different feels to them. Good luck choosing.

HI..just got waitlisted at Andover. Do you have any idea how many are accepted? I mean do they over accept then see who accepts then go to the waiting list? Do they offer different types of waitlist letters, some with encouragement, some not so encouraging? Also, is it as hard as they say it is, I'm a math and sci person with current good grades.

I'm in the same boat nelly!
It's a tough choice!
I'm currently leaning more towards andover but it's just the general feel of the school. Definitely going to the revist days for both to see how it goes.

I remember you didn't visit either due to your location. Hopefully you can do the revisit days because they will be KEY for you to get the "feel" of the schools. That makes a huge difference. Our current top school, we felt just ok about before the visit.

Hey, I'm choosing between Exeter and Andover (and another school I like) too. Both are phenomenal schools. I don't think you can go wrong with either unless you can't take all the work. I'm leaning towards Exeter at this moment because I have been visiting the place lots of times, so I know it better. The facilities (especially for sports and science) are amazing. The library at Exeter is really, really big. At andover, there's a less formal dress code. I wish both schools were much smaller so everyone would know each other better. But that's not possible, so exeter is a slightly better for me because it's smaller by just a hundred or so students. Exeter gets a lot more snow then Andover. Also, there's sales tax in Andover, but none in Exeter because its in NH.

I'd choose Exeter, partly because Andover rejected me, and partly because I liked Exeter more. Also Nelly you know how in the Exeter acceptance they have that your classmate will be a debate captain, science fair winner, etc. I'm pretty sure you were on that list at least for me. Kinda interesting I thought.

I would choose Exeter. This may because I got put on the waiting list at Andover and accepted at Exeter. Math is my main interest and the math team at Exeter is much stronger. Both schools are great, so whatever you choose will be awesome.

i did get to see andover and exeter, but it is financially impossible to go see them again. Sugarkim and ajadedidealist, i'm sending you pms with questions, thx!

All things being equal to you, then consider Andover as Exeter's summer school is closer to the ocean, if you want to experience both. Difficult choice that should be made easier for you during revisit days. In four years, you will probably be deciding between Harvard & Yale--so this dilemma should serve as good practice. Both Andover & Exeter have summer programs open to qualifying students from other schools which will enable you to experience both schools regardless of your choice for the Fall. Another thought which is purely subjective, is that Exeter had more of an elite prep school campus feel, while Andover impressed me as a sophisticated small liberal arts college in a beautiful setting with easy access to Boston. I don't think that you can make a wrong choice.

Hi, I was wondering if in the the Exeter acceptance letters you were singled out. For my letter it talked about the premier soccer player, the kid with the patent, and then at the end it was like hopefully... and then it listed my attributes. My mom thought that I was good enough to be mentioned in the letter, but I thought about it, and all it would take is 30 seconds of typing to change the letter to my qualities.

jwang, yup, i got that too. it said "and, we hope, a thespian, dancer, basketball player from oregon who is also an award winning writer." they make us all sound good!!!! LOL> i guess they just sat around and thought up a line for everyone.
