Animal volunteering opportunities in the area?

Ok, call me crazy but I could have sworn that I saw something about walking dogs on campus as volunteers or something but for the life of me, I can't find anything.

Does anyone know of any places on or close to campus where we can volunteer with animals? I miss my dog so much and I think it would be a great way to relax for me. Apparently, the Capital Area Humane Society is booked solid with volunteers so I'm looking outside of that.

Thanks :)

my best friend’s cousin works at an animal shelter of some sort and I seem to recall her talking about being able to walk dogs there…I’ll ask and get back to you!

There use to be a dog walking program for the dogs at the Vet Med building but I haven’t seen anything about that recently. The last time the website was updated was like in 2008.

CAHS has a lot of volunteers but they won’t turn you away. It is an issue getting there though since it is on the other side of Lansing and I don’t think the buses run that way. You can join ZSA and get rides there though.

I have my own car and I work in Lansing lol. But thank you for that info!

Ingham County Animal Control in Mason likes volunteers to walk dogs. It would probably be around 10 miles from East Lansing.
