Annenberg Students - What Else Can I Do?

Greetings,

At the end of 67 transferable units, and presumably achieving a 3.23 GPA, I am left with these following factors that will decide my fate:

Creator, VP, and COO of Finance Economics Business Achievement

Member of English Lit Club

Columnist for Homeward Street Journal (a newspaper which educates the public on homelessness and poverty in Sacramento), and the American River Current (my junior college's newspaper)

Ideally, I would like to write for a local magazine that focuses on the entertainment industry, so let's add this into the equation too.

I understand my GPA is not competitive, so I would like to remedy the non-competitive GPA by asking current Annenberg students, What more can I do? As I search through the forums I am not finding solid statistics for transfer students who were accepted to Annenberg as BC/journalism major, instead I am mainly finding the statistics of freshmen who were admitted.

The GPA might ding you, to be honest. But if you build up experience in those two papers, it might offset anything negative. I think you have the right plan, to be honest.

Thanks for your input.

I am also concerned about my GPA. I am considering knocking out 9 more units’ worth of journalism courses, effectively bringing my GPA to 3.5 +/-.

Is the topic for the essay always the same? If so, I will begin brainstorming on my essay at this very moment!

Pretty much.

I wouldn’t get caught up in a ton of journalism courses, as most are non-transferrable. Annenberg doesn’t want you to have to “un-learn” anything. I would utilize your strengths, which is work experience, to advocate for your place within Annenberg.

Understood. Thanks again.
