hello. I just came back from school for the summer brake to live with my parents. I noticed that where I live there is a strange tick sound that goes on intervals of 30 seconds and I have hell no idea where it is coming from. (I know only its somewhere from outside) It is kinda bothering, especially at night when I try to fall asleep and have to either close window or put earplugs in. Does anyone have any idea what that might be? How to solve this problem? I live in old condos.

I suspect that it is someone's fire alarm detector that is dying out of battery. But I am not sure.

When I was reading your post I was thinking fire detector. It's amazing, really, those things could be beeping for weeks and the people living there do not notice because they get used to it. I've seen that happen before and now that you're not used to it you noticed it right away.

Then again, could be something else that is low on battery, an answering machine beeping because there is a new message, or something else that I can't think of

i actually had a friend place one of those restaurant-notification-beeper-things in my ceiling as a joke, because thats what they do and it is annoying as hell...i thought it wasn't coming from my room for a while, so i tried to ignore it. but finally i found it, went to his house, and put it in his room haha
