Another Annoying Kid Asking for Chances

I'm a Junior (sort of) in North Jersey. My GPA is something like 3.8, unweighted. And I have a pretty high class rank, not totally sure what it is though. By the time I graduate I'll have only 2 AP courses under my belt, US History and Gov. and Politics. The rest of my classes were all on level, but I got A's in everything. The only reason I didn't take harder classes was because I couldn't with what I planned to do my Junior year in high school. I played soccer freshman year, ran on the track team in sophomore year. I was in a few clubs: International Weekend, FEA, Academic Bowl, French club. And I pretty much bombed the SAT's, 1600 on the new version. I'll taken them again, but I don't really expect to do much better. I didn't exactly learn anything Junior year that would help me do better. Oh yeah- I am a Rotary exchange student in Japan for an entire year. I'm not fluent in Japanese, but I can carry on a conversation and be understood. I also attended the Presidential Inauguration and served as a Student Ambassador to Australia. I'm planning on taking a Gap Year to either be an exchange student in a Spanish speaking country, work, or travel around for a year.
I'd love to go to SDSU, but do I have much of a chance being an out-of-stater with my credentials?

Okay so I just read somewhere that they don't look at EC's and stuff. So are my grades good enough to get in?

Possibly, but as I just stated in another post, make sure you have 1 year of visual or performing arts such as drama, art etc. It has to be one year of the same discipline. It never occured to me, but when we went to an info session at SDSU, the admissions officer said that many OOS'er don't realize they need that year in the arts, and are rejected automatically because they don't meet the a-g requirements. This goes for all public state schools and UC's. Also, make sure to look at out of state costs if you haven't already.

Get your SAT score up by like 150 points or so, and you'll be fine.

As long as you get 1000 on your SAT's you will be good.

Well if I take away the writing score, I'll still have over a 1000 points. That's good news. I really would like to go to SDSU because I've heard they have an amazing STudy ABroad program. DOes anybody know anything about it?
