another "chances" thread... (I know)

Alright, so I'm Ricardo Rodriguez, I go to Saint Paul's school in Maryland.
obviously, hispanic male.

I've got something like a 3.7 - 3.8 GPA (we don't weight at our school), I just finished my junior year and so far I've taken the most rigorous courses available to me including honors in everything but math (e.g., im on the honors english track, took honors chemistry, so on...). In my junior year, I took AP Biology and AP US history. I've made headmaster's list (A- average or above) for every semester except for 2nd freshman year, and I've been given academic honors as a result (something like, "headmaster's club"). we even got special ties that you can't buy at the bookstore, awesome.

I was also a national merit scholar, because I scored in the 99% (or was it 98%?) on the PSAT this past year.

My SAT scores are as follows. 2030 combined for the new one, with 700 in reading/verbal (whatever they call it now) a 680 in math and 650 in writing (I think thats right)
in terms of SAT II's, I have a 760 in US history and 740 in Bio E/M with emphasis on Ecology.

I've been Varsity cross country, wrestling, and crew for 4 years, captain of my wrestling team for 2 (going on 3) and I'll be team captain of cross country for my senior year.

My E.C.'s are the one thing that kind of bother me. In freshman year, I went from tech club to international club, quit that, and sophomore year I was the assistant copy editor for our school newspaper. It turns out I wasn't satisfied with any of that so I created my own club. As the founder and president of the Student Film Club, I almost single handedly organized the first annual spring film festival. it was pretty sweet, I still have the main poster. But the point is, I didn't really stick to anything. doesn't that kind of hurt me?

So thats about it, if I can get any feedback that would be awesome.

no replies? damn.

Well for what it's worth you sound like a cool kid. I'd prob'ly party w/you.

As for Stanford? I dunno. I'm no Admin Rep, but from checking out this site it seems like you've got a couple things working for you and a couple working against.

Pros:
1) Hispanic. From what I've heard, that's really in demand.
2) Sports. Are you recruitable? Because if you are I think that really helps, too.

Cons:
1) SAT. It's low for Stanford, but I think you still have time to bring it up.
2) I dunno. Is MD over-represented?

Hope this helps in some small way.

I'm by no means an expert on stanford, but isn't hispanic heritage less of a boost at Stanford than at east coast schools, just because there are a greater number of hispanics in california, from which the majoirty of its student body hails? Not sure though...
