Another Chancing guessing game

So you guys have probably already seen this before, my apps are in and all that is left is the waiting. I am going to post this one last chance and I want you guys to guess how its going to go in March. I will make sure to return and tell you when I know about every school.

I want to major in chemistry and eventually pursue chemical engineering (yes I know the lacs are odd choices but I love the environment and would do a 3-2 or 2-1-1-1 program)

The schools (no particular order):
-dartmouth
-cornell
-wesleyan u
-middlebury
-st lawrence
-alfred u
-hamilton

Stats
-4.0 unweighted gpa
-33 ACT
-2330 SAT
-770 math 2, 750 chemistry subject tests
-rank 1/32
-I'm graduating from high school in three years instead of 4 (will be a 16 year old college freshman)

ECs
-Senior band flautist (all county twice, very high scores at nyssma, playing a level 6 this year)
-Jazz band saxophonist
-marching band
-varsity ski team (since 7th grade)
-varsity tennis team (since 8th grade)
-treasurer of science club
-treasurer of yearbook
-student council representative
-vice president of local interact rotary club
-Junior Olympian, went to US ski team selections and internationally ranked for freestyle mogul skiing singles and duels (the big one)

Community service
-Family severely affected by Hurricane Irene, my town was absolutely destroyed, over 250 volunteer hours cleaning up the town after the storm.
-Math and science tutoring for both young students and peers.
-55 hours in Peru on a service trip I received a $6000 scholarship to attend
-~100 other hours

Other
-Kopernik astronomy camp on string theory
- I spent a month in Peru on an exchange for Spanish and service, paid for by a big scholarship I won
-I co-own a business which involves many hours of making the product (fudge), selling it and traveling to fairs. I also work on weekends at a small gourmet store/cafe.
-Will have AP US History, AP English Lit, AP Calc, (that is all the AP my school offers) college course in government (freshman year), college course in economics (freshman year), 5 years of Spanish (2 years college level), college course in statistics, college course in english
-I live in an incredibly rural part of New York in the Catskills, I don't think anyone from my school has gone to any ivy except Cornell (and that only happens once ever 8 years or so).
-I'm a white female and my family makes under 40k with tons of debt from irene
- my family had a really tough time, in quick succession my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer, then hurricane irene hit, then my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, then i got ankle surgery, then my grandma died, then my brother blew out his knee, then my brother broke his neck in a skiing accident. Although my grades never dropped, these are things I discussed in my apps.

App stuff
-I'm really proud of my essay, its on how I grew with the experience of living in disaster zone after hurricane irene
-teacher recs- one will be amazing and the other should be fairly good
-happy with all my supplements
-Hamilton interview went really well and Wesleyan interview was pretty good

Thank you all very much!

Dartmouth - Rejected
Cornell - Accepted
Wesleyan u - Accepted
Middlebury - Accepted
St. Lawrence - Accepted
Alfred u - Accepted
Hamilton - Accepted

Thank you Spirral, anyone want to agree, disagree or comment?

I agree with Spirral, except I don’t know enough about Dartmouth to offer a helpful estimate. Personally, I think you have a good chance of getting in. SAT’s where it needs to be, ECs sound great.

Dartmouth - Accepted
Cornell - Accepted
Wesleyan u - Accepted
Middlebury - Accepted
St. Lawrence - Accepted
Alfred u - Accepted
Hamilton - Accepted

I like your story. You seem like an amazing person. Just don’t forget to tell us your results. :)

Thank you so much agreatperhaps and debate! I know Dartmouth is almost impossible to predict, but I really hope I get in!

Bump, anyone?

One last bump

If I were an admissions officer at any of these schools, I’d want to accept you!
But your test scores are all within range, you’re valedictorian and you have an interesting story to tell. I’m sure you’ll get in everywhere except Dartmouth, Cornell, and Middlebury, and I think you’ll get in there as well!

Dartmouth > Accept
Cornell > Accept
Wesleyan U > Accept
Middlebury > Accept
St Lawrence > Accept
Alfred U > Accept
Hamilton > Accept

I think you have a pretty good shot at all of them because you have a great gpa, a very solid sat score and good extracurriculars but you just have to remember with many of the ivy league school you could have great stats and still get rejected but to me you seem to be as solid a candidate as anybody. I would recommend going on the dartmouth ed results page and seeing what some of the kids who got in look like.

I think you’ll be accepted to all of these schools because honestly you have amazing stats and an amazing story to go with it. I would normally think that schools reject highly qualified people but in your case I don’t think you will have to worry about rejection at all. Additionally, my schools has a statistics page for acceptances to certain colleges and based on the acceptance data you fit in properly for each school. Good luck!

Damn dude. I think you can get in to al of these schools. I think being internationally ranked in skiing is very impressive.

Dartmouth - Accepted
Cornell - Accepted
Wesleyan u - Accepted
Middlebury - Accepted
St. Lawrence - Accepted
Alfred u - Accepted
Hamilton - Accepted

Incredible profile, but I’m a little confused…

-Your town was destroyed by Irene, so you live on the east coast, probably North Carolina. If the damage was super terrible, you probably live close to the ocean. Don’t feel obligated to verify this.
-Your senior class has 32 kids.
-There is a varsity (and presumably junior varsity) skiing team.

I didn’t realize people who lived on the east coast were big on skiing, especially in a small school like yours. Do you travel inland to the Appalachians or are there mountains near the coast?

Sorry if I come across wrong. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Perhaps there’s some simple explanation I’m missing? :P

I’d say you’re accepted at all. Great GPA, scores, very interesting stories for Essays, unique ECs. Great application overall nice job.

Dartmouth - Accepted
Cornell - Accepted
Wesleyan u - Accepted
Middlebury - Accepted
St. Lawrence - Accepted
Alfred u - Accepted
Hamilton - Accepted

Immasenior, the hurricane you are probably thinking of is hurricane sandy, which affected the eastern seaboard. I live inland in a valley in the Catskills that, due to extreme rains caused by hurricane Irene, flooded and became a disaster zone in 2011. My town is a ski town with very few full time residents but a large group of weekenders. I am on my school varsity ski team, but I am internationally ranked in freestyle skiing, which I do from a mountains team that consists of many out of towners who rent or own second homes. Hope that cleared everything up!

Oh and I’m from NY, what many people don’t realize is that inland and rural NY, VT and NH were awfully destroyed from flashing flooding related to Irene.

I do want a few more opinions on this just so I can get an accurate general consensus and see how close it ends up being. Thanks everyone!

You have extremely high chances in all universities listed except Cornell and Dartmouth. You’re very likely to be accepted in Cornell and you have pretty decent chances in Dartmouth too. I think with your stats you should send applications to some other Ivies as well.

Oh my God you are easily one of the most qualified candidates I have seen all year. I’d say accepted to all. The only ones that may not are the ivies, just becuase they’re so unpredictable

Excited to see your results  I’ll guess accepted to all.
