Is it possible to double major Electrical/computer engineering with a human-computer interaction at cmu?

I believe it is only possible to minor in HCI as an undergraduate. You have to apply to HCII while you’re a SCS student (I think you can also be in any of the other schools also).

what exactly does electrical and computer engineering cover? isnt it very similar to computer science? im confused on what exactly is the difference.

Hardware versus Software is basically the difference. Hardware=ECE and Software=CS

Computer Engineering has aspects of Electrical engineering except you’re focused on computer technology. For example, semiconductors.

It is entirely possible to do both ECE and HCI double major at CMU. One of my friends who graduated last year did that and is now in the HCI masters program.

At CMU ECE covers a very wide range. Everyone has to take the basic electrical engineering classes, but a lot of ECE majors are basically CS majors.

The biggest difference between CS and ECE is that CS covers a lot of theory and discrete math. If you don’t know which to take at CMU, I highly recommend taking classes in both majors, you’ll be able to decide pretty fast.
