Alvaro Unbe, the former President of Colombia will join the former President of Poland and past Prime Minister of Spain on the faculty of the School of Foreign Service. With all the talk of rankings it is really interesting the position of Georgetown. Its School of Foreign Service is literally on a world class, almost without peer or even competition level, while the overall university is only ranked in the low 20s. At any rate, any CCers lucky enough to be admitted to SFS will have truly great opportunities the next few years.

Quite impressive. Yes, I don’t think there is a competitor on the same level as Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service. It seems to be the best at what it does. But the University ratings aren’t very reliable, anyway.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe the SFS is the only reason why it is ranked as highly as it is?

I happen to think the small army of Rhodes, Marshall and Mitchell scholars the University has produced in the last twenty or so years has something to do with it as well. Anyway, SFS is truly in a league of its own.

By the way if it is an “only”, what an only it is!
