So, if you have more than 6 schools I know it says to go back, delete some and add the new ones.

Do you think it's wise to wait a couple of days before you do that? It seems like some wheels need to grind somewhere...

Thanks.

weenie,

i think if i remember correctly, you need to, yes, wait a few days until the SAR (Student Aid Report) is generated............... before you make the change to add schools.

My question as well. I think you have to wait until it is processed and then go back in and change the schools and resubmit.

I have to figure out the exemptions on the student as well. If my son filed a 1040ez and I claimed him as a dependent on my taxes does he claim 1 or 0 on the fafsa for his exemptions?

I think I have everything else ready to go though

^ Drizzit, he claims zero if you claim him as a dependent.

Also, don't forget if your child turns 17 this year, you lose the child tax credit in 2006.

Thanks Springfieldmom

I hate losing those deductions ;) $2,000 poof the joys of twins

I am also ready to submit, except DH's taxable wages aren't on his year end pay statement...the only year end amounts are gross and net pay and total deductions. What a pain. I wanted to at least have FAFSA ready to go today. Oh well, one more day won't matter.

Well, this is our 1st time (oh joy) with the form, and when we went to fill it out today, our PIN wouldn't work. We had applied for it last week, the email came, and when we tried to retrieve it - no luck. After trying a few times, it gave us the message that because we had attempted too many retrievals - we had to apply for a new PIN. So, no we have to wait again. I hope this isn't an omen of things to come.................

This won't help you know, but I seem to recall past threads about this problem...back when I applied for the PINs, I was advised to request the PIN come to you by snail mail...I tried to get it via email the first time, and it didn't work either. So I requested it again via snail mail and the snail mail version worked.
