Okay, so 2 years ago, DD went off to college. We did not do Fafsa or CSS as we were stupidly sure of getting nothing. Now, DS is off to college this Fall, and we have had some slight changes in circumstances, so I decided to do Fafsa for him. And it came back looking like we would qualify for some aid.

So, do i need to do Fafsa in DD's name? Is the Fafsa I did only for DS? I did put 2 students in college as the answer. These questions look as incredibly dumb in print here as they sounded in my head.

You need to file a separate FAFSA for each college student. The FAFSA specific to that student will include some different items. For example, DS's FAFSA includes HIS 2006 tax info and assets, DD's includes HER 2006 tax info and assets. Also DS's will be sent to DS's college(s), and DD's will be sent to DD's college(s).

Thanks thumper1, sadly I did figure that out too late, well now we have to wait for another pin.....

Another question though, once we get the SAR, and we make corrections to any figures, if we change school names at that time, then only the second set of schools will get the amended data, right? So, in reality, we should change the $ figures that we need to, and submit to the first set of schools, then go back, immediately and change the schools???

Choc

My son had 11 schools so this is what I did.
We filed SAR 01 and listed 6 schools.

After it was processed we corrected this SAR by deleting those schools and adding the next 5. This was SAR 02.

When I finally finished my taxes and all number were finalized we went back and corrected SAR 01. It is now named SAR 03 and is final.

After SAR 03 was processed we were able to go back and correct SAR 02 which had the next set of schools. This became SAR 04 and I was done.

Whew It took about 24 hours for the SAR to be processed before I could modify another one.

So then you did not lose the names/school codes when you modified SAR 01? So I really need to go ahead and send out the fafsa to all the schools now and then change numbers when we are ready....and both sets of schools will still be available?
