another one of those for CAS..

Hi, I'm a male in Seattle planning to apply ED for CAS
My SAT I and IIs are as such : 1600scale: 1440, 2400scale: 2130
V700 M730 W700
Math I 740 USH 710 Lit 600

My GPA is 3.68 uw, but my junior year was a mess (3.5)
-my school doesn't rank, but i should be within top quarter

For ec's, this pretty much highlights it ( but i got some more):
varsity soccer and basketball for 3 years
model united nations for 3 years, trips to Hague-the Netherlands
(assumed leadersihp-like role)
worked in a computer company (internship)for every summer
during grade 9-12
Went abroad for HFH for 2 trips in 2 yrs (Australia and Papua New Guinea)

Recently i wrote an exceptionally solid essay about ties between my favorite
ovel's protagonist and the cultural shock within me (as i am not american),
and will get a very solid rec from my english teacher.
How possible is it for me to get in?

I think you have a decent shot though you probably want to take more SAT IIs. Are you getting or trying to get recruited for varsity soccer or bball? If you're good enough to play on the team, I'm sure you'll have an awesome chance with your stats.

thanks for the feedback, no, although i've been on varsity many years,
i am not skilled enuff to play on interscholastic teams (like in the NCAA), lol.
My school's division was small and private, so its not like i played in like
huge public divisions.

Assuming that I do better on the USH this october (say a 740), and that i self-stuided for the AP US and AP US GOV and took AP Econ in school and got 5s, will this cover up for my IIs?

any more help would be deeply appreciated... =)

i think you have a very good chance. most of your stats are higher than mine.. i didn't even take SAT IIs (they weren't required when i applied) but i don't think you have to take that many. I just recommend taking a language one because then you can place out of the four semesters of required foriegn languages. Also NYU loves community service. So if you can put some of that on your resume I think that you will be good.

You're in, no worries.

thanks a lot! buy the way HFH stands for Habitat for humanity thats considered as community service rite? (im also in the club this year)
I really hope i get in cuz all the stats for accepted ppl last yr were higher or equal to mine....

Your stats are very good, You are in. You do not need to ED.

hey im from the seattle area too, and im looking at applying ED to CAS did you go to the meeting thing that NYU put on last sunday

no, unfortunately i missed it...
Windley, isnt my GPA and SAT 2kinda low to call my stats very good?

Also, does NYU place heavy weight on the APP essays?

Just to be on the safe side, doesn't colleges prefer Math IIc nowadays? I've heard that Math I isn't very desireable.
