Another OOS Chances

<p>Daughter really wants UD for their skating programs. We're from Massachusetts.</p>

<p>Unweighted GPA: 2.8, Weighted 3.5
ACT: 27
SAT: 1910
CR: 630
Math: 590
Writing: 690
Two AP classes Junior Year and all other honors or college prep.
Senior year, full course load with 3 AP classes (Psych, Bio & Euro History)
Many hours of community service
Competitive figure skater. </p>

<p>She's been training heavily over the past two years and her grades suffered for it. Any chance they'll consider her with this GPA?</p>

<p>I see it’s been two days and no one has weighed in so I will give you my opinion (which is all that it is). I think the test scores are ok, but not sure about the 2.8 GPA. Seems low for UDel. Maybe focusing on the skating and the trade-offs in her essay will explain it…</p>

<p>Just a few quick questions - what level/type of skating? Does she plan to continue in college? Will the amount of training she will be doing have an impact on her ability to be successful in her coursework?</p>

<p>Does her GPA get better or worse when the non-academic classes are removed UD only counts academic and re-calculates the GPA. She needs to make sure that her senior grades are A’s. Also, IMHO, saying that the grades were bad because of training is not going to encourage them to take her for their skating program, unless she can show that she’s figured out how to do both without having her academics suffer.</p>
