EC's and GPA are lacking due to being chronicly ill 9th-11th grade...

Forgot that I also have 2 years of Italian

Do you have a particular major in mind or do you plan on applying undecided?

For an OOS applicant your stats and other data are good except for your overall GPA, which is on the very low side for OOS applicants (I am assuming that you are OOS). If your medical problems have had a significant negative impact on your ability to obtain better grades during your first three years of HS please make UD aware of it in your application. UD now requires the Common Application for all applicants along with a Delaware Supplement. In this Supplement there is a section (#9) where you can write an explanation if you have had specific problems/circumstances which have interferred with your abilities to obtain better grades. I would recommend that you complete this section with as much detail as you feel comfortable revealing.

You can maximize your chances of being accepted if you take a full course load (5) during both semesters of your Sr. year of HS (Courses should all be college prep, honors, or AP in major subject areas). Obviously try and do as well as possible in your first semester of your Sr. year and make sure the grades are sent to UD as soon as they are available. Best of luck to you in your quest for acceptance to UD

Are you going to be skating at UDEL (do they have that?)? If there’s a skating coach who can help you, I’d try that.

NHS + 1800 SAT + 13 Honors Courses + Nationally-ranked skater? The only way your WOULDN’T be in is if UDel questions that 3.0 GPA. Make sure you (or your Recommenders) address that. Good luck!

Neighbor’s DD is a UD grad who skated on their synchro team and had an incredible experience. She asked what are you ranked 11th at? Skaters by the ton apply there, so it doesn’t stand out much unless you’re Olympic material. I agree that the 3.0 needs some explaining.

Also, UD will recompute your GPA based only on your academic classes (science, math, English, social studies). Will that bring you down below 3.0? As someone else said, they will also look at your senior year classes.

our GPA system is totally different than pretty much any school i’ve ever looked at. if I recalculated it on the University of Delaware scale I would have a 3.9

If your HS GPA is really 3.9 I doubt you would have a problem being accepted. Just make sure you continue to take 5 major courses both semesters of your Sr. year.
