Another Point Of View

"...let school take over and control everything to the point where they are a student all their lives and are just a puppet trying to please everyone instead of living their life while they're still young."

Okay, you know what, I'm getting sick of all this.

Us, DORKS are trying to secure ourselves a FUTURE. Okay? I know there are the extreme show-offs who love tu rub their sat scores/high gpa's in people's faces, but a lot of us are just looking to have a good, stable career by the time we're 30.

Most of us don't shut ourselves in our room and call it a day, we go out with friends and know how to have a good time. BUT we also care about sat scores and gpa's a lot because we know how much competition there is out their for those careers we want (by the time we're 30), and for those law, med, and other grad schools we hope to get into (in 4 years).

I just want to live a good live when I'm older. I'd rather put in the effort now and enjoy the later years...

So, Go on. Rant away. We're all entitled to our opinions, I suppose. I just wanted to say my piece.

I'm with you.

Plus, some of us generally enjoy working, or learning, or both at the same time. I wish that could be respected here.

omg people GET A GRIP! Stop your **ing and enjoy life. I'm so *ing sick of reading the same stupid threads over and over!

haha, whoa. It's slightly ironic that you (1) complain about our complaining and then (2) tell us to get a grip in a post that is clearly the most inflammatory one within this thread.

I'm with liveforindie and melanieeek, including the previous post...that ammused me

It's funny how just because most of my grades are good (except for a certain grade in physics) people sudenly assume that I have no social life. A kid from school saw me outside a mall and ran off to tell all his buddies that I go out at night. It's weird.

I'm not complaining about this particular thread...I'm complaining about the other threads that are about the same topic and then you guys make it worse by posting ANOTHER THREAD in retaliation to the other threads. It's annoying. How the hell is this even relevant to college?? This is about SAT and high school gpa scores, which I honestly don't give a **** about anymore because after your senior year of high school it doesn't matter anymore! I have not talked to one person in the university I attend who mentioned their high school gpa, their ACT/SAT scores, or asked me what mine were.

I did work my butt off studying for the ACT's. All I did was study, study, study. I even took a 700 dollar Kaplan prep course. And I got a 23 both times I took it. I got into the same university that my Kaplan instructor got into (and graduated) and he got a 28. So does that make me less smarter than him? No it doesn't. Does it mean I'm not going to be successful in my first year of college? No. I was in the top 10 percent of my class and my ACT score wasn't that stellar. I don't know if you guys are in high school posting on a college thread or now freshman in college but STOP looking back on your high school gpa and your SAT scores because it doesn't matter anymore. The new people you meet in college and the professors you have don't give a rip about how well you did in high school or on the SATs. It's a new beginning people, so start building up your GPA now that you're IN college and worry about the standardized tests (MCAT, LSAT, GRE etc.) when the time comes. (If you're in college, you need to grow up and if you aren't then you're really naive to believe that people still care about high school gpa/SAT scores in college.)

Btw..I didn't mean to be inflammatory but when NYker keeps starting threads about the same old topic and then I see a thread in response to the the numerous threads...it gets really old fast.
